pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

It looks good. I don't know why or how you suddenly lost audio. Double check to make sure you have AppleALC and Lilu in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/.

I have these two files. My EFI folder is an exact copy of r4.4.4 (except modifying config.plist with my S/Ns and UUID). I thought I might have a hardware problem so installed Win 10 on a separate drive.

Audio in Windows works fine. In Mojave, System Prefs -> Sound still shows no devices. I'll keep hunting and pecking for a possible cause. :(

You can try using audio-id 1 or 3. You can also try clearning NVRAM to see if it helps.

Tried audio inject 1 and 3, no joy. Tried reverting to EFI r3.5, nope. Tried booting into High Sierra from a CCC backup, nope. My Apple TV shows up fine as an output device (AirPlay). Plugged in my USB web cam and it shows up as an input device (mic) just fine. But no onboard output devices. :( I may have to admit defeat and buy an external USB sound card.

P.S. Cleared the nvram too (`sudo nvram -c`) but that did not help either.

Thank you so much. You da man!

I see all the output devices now -- Internal Speakers, two Line Out, Digital Out, and my monitor (DisplayPort). Not getting any sound out of my speakers though no matter which jack I plug them in to. But that could be my set up; I'll continue to look at it.

For the benefit of others, any thoughts on how I got into the original situation?

Edit: Sound works fine now out of "Internal Speakers" and lime (green) colored jack.

Use audio-id 2 in your config.plist.
Select "Internal Speaker" in System Preferences > Sound.
Plug your speakers in to:

There has been some people who had difficulty with the initial install. Most of the time, it's due to USB flash drive or the macOS installer that they downloaded were not the complete installer. But this "dirty" method definitely works and, in my opinion, easier.

Still didn't work :( just seems to go through the set up and then hits a wall and reboots. It must be the optane stick.

You transplanted a drive with macOS already installed on it and it would just reboot?
