pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

How was your monitor connected? HDMI? DisplayPort? Did you have Shiki.kext installed?

Did this happen with your X299 system or Z370 system?

I'm trying to understand why some people have this issue...

It's via DisplayPort to DELL U2718Q 4K Monitor,
The issue gone if I use HDMI or another 2K monitor (with same DP cable) or RX570 card.
My EFI folder is almost identical to EFI v3.2, just modified the SN UUID etc and added my custom SSDT-USB.aml, so I do have Shiki.kext installed.
It happened on my Z370 build.
I bought MSI AirBoost Vega56 at the end, anyway, I will report back when I have that card on hand.

I hava sleep/wake problem: It will sleep and wake before the monitor turn off totally, but after the monitor turn off, can't wake up anymore.

Looks like there's a problem with AddressBookSourceSync. Try the following:
  1. Launch System Preferences.
  2. Click iCloud.
  3. Uncheck Contacts.
  4. Quit System Preferences.
  5. Put system to sleep.
If sleep/wake is working fine, you should be able re-enable Contacts and sleep/wake should continue working.

Btw, this is another macOS issue, not a hackintosh issue.

Hey Pastry,

Any chance you can tell me how to get iTunes video working on a 1080 Founders Edition. I have searched around but maybe I am missing something with AMD it just worked as long as I has Shiki. Since changing the crashes I had in Parallels with the Vega card are not duplicated with the nvida however I tunes video does not work now. Also I tried VM Fusion it crashed just the same overall it was not as smooth as parallels for what I use it for and it felt like it loaded way slower.

I don't know of a reliable solution for getting iTunes DRM videos to work. Shiki.kext is supposed to help but it's still hit or miss with many different users. Shiki is the only kext that I'm aware of that tries to fix this. My theory is at least some cause of problems is due to HDCP and sometimes switching from DisplayPort to HDMI and vice versa can make a difference.

hmm... So it goes to sleep fine? The pmset output you showed indicates that it shouldn't be going to sleep correctly...

When it is sleeping, is the power light blinking?
Have you tried waking the computer by pressing the power button?
After trying to wake the computer is the power light still blinking or solidly lit?
Is your computer overclocked?
How is the monitor connected? DisplayPort? HDMI?
What kind of monitor are you using?
Have you tried cycling power to manually wake the monitor?
Do you have WhateverGreen.kext installed?
The pmset output shows you have external media connected. What is it?

Is NvdiaGraphicsFixup still necessary? I'm having mouse lag issues and I'm trying to find the source of the problem, I'm on 10.13.5

If the power light is not blinking, I don't think it's really sleeping. This pmset output shows that the AddressBookSourceSync is no longer an issue.

Do all the fans on your computer stop spinning when it's sleeping?
Have you tried sleeping with the external hard drive disconnected?
Are you using SSDT-USB.aml?
