I have 5 hard drives installed. And sometimes OSX shows that there is just no HGST 7K6000. Disk utility doesn't show any signs either. After few restarts this drive could appear again and work properly. As much as I noticed, Bios alway recognise this drive. Other 4 hard drives work properly. This hard drive is only 6 months old.
Is there any cure for this problem?
Thanks

Did you ever get it figured out? I have the same problem...1 SSD and 4 hard drives installed, but often one hard drive (always the same one) doesn't show up in OS X (but always shows up in BIOS). The disappearing hard drive is less than a month old.

Sadly, but no =/

The same here.

System is on SSD, which works fine. But the second one HDD sometimes doesn't appear on startup. Restart always help. HDD often works slowly - finder opens folders very slowly. Disk utility loads disks slowly either. Smart status for the HDD is not supported and first aid didn't find any problems. Changing SATA port didn't help.

HDD model - Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB (ST1000DM003).

What Format is the disappearing Hard Drive in?

I have a 'disappearing' hard drive too and I know the reason is because it is formatted as exFAT and I dual-boot with Windows ... :)
