OSX freeze after installing official nVidia Fermi drivers

Finally got a KP after 2 days without problem.

So PCI-E=100Mhz improves the situation but it's not a real solution.

Now I try with "Performance Enhance = Normal" instead of Extreme (which is fine under Windows 7). It's a RAM setting, not a GPU setting, but who knows...

Unlike most of you I do need a setting working in both OS because I use Windows a lot, mostly for gaming.

I have Palit GTX460 2gb version and exactly the same issues that are listed in the post (very annoying freezes and rare KP)
I have tried the following:
1) installed tonymac nvidia update
2) made a ROM with Gpu-Z and put it in /Extra/10de_0e22.rom and told the system to use it
3) made a working custom dsdt
4) set Pci-Express freq from auto to 100mhz
and nothing of it works :(

A trick with wallpaper in background seems to work, but it's not the solution.

One of KP in the attachement

Same here -.-

After 2~3 hours working --> KP!

I still dream about some fix for everyone that woks.. :banghead:

Stucked in this i have to use windows

Hello from Greece. I have settled up 10.6.3 with Apple's combo update 10.6.6 and TonyMac's 3.0.3 plus nvidia drivers [fresh install] on an ASUS PQ5 Deluxe / C2D @ 3.33GHz / 5Gb ram and iChill GTS 450 w/ 1Gb DDR5 Ram.

Freeze issues seems to occur in my case when DDR frequency is @ 667MHz and the system is on stress, ie: playing COD2 online does the trick after 10mins play. Nevertheless, when trying Outrun 2006 (both games on cider) i tend to play for hours and no glitch..

I turned the ram frequency to 867MHz and settled FSB @100Mhz. System is stable and works ok w/ macpro 3.1 definition. As an extra measure, I settled up Wallsaver with 'Word of the day' as the default background. Seems to do the trick - Uptime now 24hrs; no freeze issues.

Will keep you posted.

I think the real test is to do the 867mhz without the wallsaver trick.

Wallsaver disabled. Still no issues for 5 hrs now... :shh:

Thanks to whoever found the wallsaver temporary fix. You saved my life.

9hrs running no KP (up from 15min run time)

gtx 460 / p55a-udp4 / iBoot 2.5.1 / 10.6.5 / multibeast 3.0.3

Still no freeze issues without the Wallsaver tip. It's been 1d 15hrs now. No significant jobs running, ut*****t, surfing, music, movies. I will try and stress things up in the next few hours; ie: playing games etc. I strongly believe that the 867MHz Ram & PCIe 100MHz is doing the trick. Time will tell.

Have you try to add your device-id to NVGAGF100HAL.kext?

By having a look into it, i see it correspondents (or depends or whatever) to NVDAResman.kext:

  • <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

Perhaps someone should start there and search for an possible solution

karacho: Could you tell what and where should I write in this kext? My device id is 10de for vendor and 0e22 for I don't know what :)
