Onstage at WWDC, Craig Federighi said that the new "California locations" series will take OS X through the "Next 10 years". So I guess we can assume Apple isn't killing it off or combining it into iOS until at least 2023 :p

So, we may be seeing OS X 10.18 "San Francisco" ????

Cheers!

I"ve been wondering that myself, do you think they would ever switch from OS X to OS XI?

Does anyone think Windows 8, combining desktop and mobile, was a good idea?

Hopefully Apple have watched and learned... I'm sure they have.

No. The only reason for this was for Microsoft to try selling more phones and tablets. They need Metro, Modern UI, TIFKAM (The Interface Formerly Known As Metro), whatever apps.

Combining desktop and mobile is inevitable. Microsoft was the first (?) to implement it, but in usual Redmond fashion, their implementation sucks. I'm really curious to see if Ubuntu Phone can pull it off, and I'd bet anything that Apple R&D already has prototypes.

I'd love to see this happen. Imagine not needing to travel with a laptop all the time.
