OpenCore: Sleep HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini (i5-6500)

From reading about this in linux forums, it seems to be "fixed" by disabling deep sleep for igpu using kernel flag intel_idle.max_cstate=1.

Some people claim their problem went away after a bios update, so I'm starting to think this is an intel driver/chip bug, and the OEM's just deactivated deep sleep for the igpu in acpi in a bios update to stop the customer complaints.

Maybe there is a way to force that same flag using WEG?

That's why I tried to update the BIOS at some point. I probably also came across what you're reading.

Just for completeness maybe try imac 18,1 SMBIOS.
It is kabylake, but uses IGPU only...

Just had another idea, have you tried disabling digital audio with flag "no-hda-gfx" in igpu device properties?
It is possible the audio codec is causing the KP on wake.

Yes I did try that already.

I also took some time to read this https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/t...i-the-perfect-macmini81-hackintosh-clover-oc/ and the fixes listed here https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/t...osh-clover-oc/?do=findComment&comment=2723490. It's a "similar" machine and some stuff applies.

For instance I was never able to apply framebuffer patches because they would crash the machine on boot, this line here was important:

  • (Solved and included in EFI attached to Post #1 starting with OC 0.7.6 R002) Monterey does not support patched connector type Dual-Link DVI (<04000000>) which I had been using to enable displays with DP->DVI adapters. With connector type DVI, Monterey boots to black screens. Starting with Monterey, we must use patched connector type HDMI (<00080000>) with DP->DVI adapters as discussed here.

I applied the connector type change and I was able to re-test our previous GPU patches without having it crash. Unfortunately none of them worked.

I'll get my hands on a DP>DP cable very soon and retest the machine with the adapter. Maybe the DP->HDMI is the source of this problems with the GPU. Not sure but I'll test it.

What puzzles me is that this guy here https://github.com/tonnydam/HP-Elitedesk-800-G2-DM-Mini-OpenCore says his sleep works well. I tried his GPU patches (with the con-type fixed) it boots well but it still doesn't wake from sleep.

For completeness my current EFI is here: https://github.com/TCB13/HP-EliteDesk-800-G2-DM-Hackintosh

If we dont use DP->HDMI adapter and just do DP to Monitor will that help?

Yes, it might help.

Some display adapters/cables are problematic when used in macOS.

You need to be using an 'Active' DisplayPort adapter.

It is always better to use a DP to DP or a HDMI to HDMI cable.
