NVIDIA to launch "Maxwell" based GTX 960 graphics card this month

@znender: actually I just swapped out my GTX 970 with the GTX 960 :p. But when I installed the 970 I followed the same steps described in the guide you mentioned (apart the fact that I use Clover instead of Chimera).

@stork: I ran the benchmark with the extreme hd presets (+AA), not the medium. However I tried with the ultra presets without AA and I only got 2331 contrary to the 3000 of the Asus GTX 960: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2015/01/22/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-review-feat-asus/9

I will try to run the benchmark under Windows 7 64bits tomorrow.

Well, I learned something. I ran the benchmarks in the default configuration. I didn't know there are levels to Valley. BTW, thanks for the link as it was a good review.

It seems that when you use the benchmarking mode in valley, you can modify quality and anti-aliasing level (the others parameters as ambiant occlusion are reset when the benchmark is launched).

Did some benchmarks under Windows :
- For reference : Mac / OpenGL / Ultra / No AA : 2331
- Win 7 64 bits / OpenGL / Ultra / No AA : 2465
- Win 7 64 bits / DirectX 11 / Ultra / No AA : 2884 (close from the Asus score which, I think, was OC)
As you can see, the Mac score is close from the Windows one, so it seems that the 960 is fully supported under Mac OSX. The difference might come from different optimization level between Win and Mac Nvidia drivers.

PS: be careful, the manufacturing quality of the Asus 960 seems a bit random. Some reviewers received a sample which was really loud under full charge (40db, most 960 run at 30db) but others did not... Maybe only the first batch sent to reviewers was faulty, IDK. However half of the heat pipes are not in contact with the GPU:

Well that was unexpected: my MSI GTX 960 is up and recognized by OSX/NV Web Driver under the generic name of "NVIDIA Graphics Device 2047MB".

I'm using the first display port (the one near the HDMI output) at 1080p. So far so good...

OSX: 10.10.1
Nvidia Web Driver: 343.02.01f01 (latest)
Clover rev: r3128 (latest)
Clover Boot Argument: nvda_drv=1

Thanks for posting results :D

For comparison purposes, here's my GA GTX 750 Ti at max settings in Valley. Yep, the 960 does perform better, as you'd expect.

I ordered an MSI GTX 960 on the 23rd from Newegg. Oddly enough through it still hasn't shipped apparently. I may have to drop them an e-mail or something if they don't ship the order soon. It might have to do with the so called massive storm that was supposedly going to hit the tristate area,....

Still detected as a Nvidia Graphic Device but I'm using it since last week and I don't had any problem. DP and HDMI work but I didn't try the HDMI audio (I'm using a USB DAC).
