Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

@macs_forever
It hasn't arrived yet. I live on an island so things tend to take a little while. I'm hoping for early next week. I'll try to remember to update when I get it up and running.

I paid the equivalent of around $200 from a private seller on ebay. They retail for about $300 where I live, so not bad at all I think. Assuming it actually works.

How do you like it? Does it play starcraft 2 by chance? I have the old W7000 and it works really well. I'm not certain if the WX4100 is a better performer or worse performer than the W7000
have not played any games with it, only use this system for photo editing

Hi,
I recently built a new computer, with Intel Core-i5-8400 2.8GHz, NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2048MB, 16384 MB DDR4-2666 RAM: MacOSX 10.14.3 - I am however, having some issues with my NVidia GeForce GTX 750Ti.

I have managed to use this workaround, and have it using the Web-Driver which initially it wasn't but if you look at my screenshot, you will see that it identifies it as NVidia Chip, but not as the 750Ti and the graphics if very choppy.

On my previous build it was also able to identify the monitors, and although it has identified the right resolution, it is telling me I have a 27.5 inch monitor when it is a 21 inch monitor from Dell.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated, I had 3 monitors running on this card on my previous setup and being down to one is driving me nuts.

Thanks

J

Update...

So as it turns out I was able to fix this problem myself.

The graphics is still very choppy, which is expected as 'hardware acceleration' is not available with this workaround, which I knew reading this post, but I still expected the system to recognize the graphics card and still be able to use my 3 monitor setup.

I changed the flags on boot up:

If you happen to have a similar setup to mine with the 750Ti Graphics Card, then this might work for you too.
  1. I think it is NV_disable=1 -- turn this one OFF
  2. Use NVidia Web Drivers Option -- turn this one ON - It's a little confusing, when this option is highlighted it is ticked, but when you move away from the option the tick disappears, but then run the boot with the options, and this seems to have worked for me.
So you can see from the screenshots attached, the About This Mac, it now shows the Graphics Adapter with full memory, and the monitors section shows the identified displays... all three of them.

The only issue I seem to be having is that I cannot use the App Store, probably to do with the Serial Number that is showing, if anyone knows how I can easily change this to use the App Store, that would be really helpful. It's interesting though, I can use Messenger and if I receive a phone call it shows up.

I just hope that Apple and NVidia get things sorted and they release the new version of the Web Drivers, but I am happy for now.

J

please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 750 ti is Maxwell
that is the reason why I didn't order or bought a 750 ti
because the 750 is not Kepler

I think up to Nvidia 740 is kepler and those have native support on mojave

how do I know?
because I bought a 740 and is fully recognized in Mojave
it works OOTB , without the need of web drivers
I also tested a 650 and it also works on Mojave, OOTB with full acceleration

I use the 740 in mojave with final cut pro, not the fastest card but at least it has acceleration
the downside is that the card sucks for gaming in windows
lol

I have a RTX 2080 and I'm hoping that when Nvidia releases web drivers for mojave they will include the RTX series
so I can use a single card for both systems

I really hate not being able to use the newer card on mojave
I didn't want to to buy a AMD card or spend 200 or 300 dollars on a graphic card
when I already own a 2080 and I sold my 1080 to buy the 2080

so I bought a supported card on eBay for less than 50 with shipping included
I use that card as a temporary solution until Nvidia releases the web drivers
if no web drivers are release in 2019 then I will consider all my options

The whole point of this thread is the "workaround" is not really viable. The 1st post says:

WorkAround : To run your "high sierra web drivers" on Mojave use this but hardware acceleration is missing.
yes you are right
honestly I don't mean no disrespect but the workaround is really useless
all it does show the right amount of GB on about this Mac
so it will help to have your card recognized but that's about it

is better to post what cards are supported OOTB
we all know most kepler cards are supported but not all of them

I think the 610 is not supported anymore
I can only confirm 650 and 740
so I think most likely any card between those 2 might work
I don't know about 620, 630 or 640

I think the best thing to do is buy a cheap card while we wait for web drivers
others will simply move on and buy a new AMD card
me personally I'm not changing my Nvidia card at least not yet
I will use the 740 for now while I wait

For series 10 of NVIDIA gtx 10xx without drivers in this moment?

I have installed macOS high Sierra on my PC and work perfect with gtx series 10 drivers

There are articles out there now saying that Nvidia will be dropping support for their Kepler cards soon. They mention the mobile cards at first. If they kill off driver support it may affect Apple drivers for newer programs.??? Let’s hope Apple doesn’t drop the only Nvidia cards we can use in the next version of software 10.15.

The next macOS 10.15 may not be compatible with any pre-2012 models as it will be no longer supported. The pre-2012 MB models have Nvidia chips. Post-2012 models have all AMD chips. Apple usually discontinue support for legacy hardwares after 5 to 7 years.

Not according to Everymac.com The 2013 and 2014 Core i7 MBPs have versions with Nvidia dedicated graphics. I would be really surprised if Apple dropped support for 2013 and 2014 model year Macs in 2019. 2012 Macs may well be supported in the next macOS 10.15. That is my hope anyway.
