I see so it's likely a driver incompatibility? I have a sense my machine is resource constrained as well as I have a lot enabled due to my dual boot situation. I really needed an x99 for this kind of thing but didn't want to deal with that as a first hack.

So how would I go about diagnosing the issue to determine what to fix for the Audio?

Audio failure; the enabler is a bandaid to hide what is broken.

How do you fix a damaged install?
1. Create bootable backup of system
2. Run installer (not Software Update) over existing install and verify audio
3. If problem persists, clean install on new partition or disk.
4. Install audio and verify.
5. Run Migration Assistant to move user files and settings to new system

Ok, Call me a complete n00b if you must here.

1) How do I do that?
2) Will I need to redo everything like the Nvidia web driver and such?
3-5 I will deal with if 2 doesnt fix it.
