No Sound - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

As stated previously, something is broken; clean install required.

did a full reinstall now. problem persists. console message exactly as posted here: Jan 26, 2017 at 2:51 PM
i don't expect any of the other diagnostic data to have been significantly changed, at least in respect to the issue at hand. i attached them here: Jan 25, 2017 at 9:14 PM (if need be i regenerate them)

as i said earlier, i am on a 200 series board. maybe of interest: to make usb work i needed a 200 series patch from rehabman which he published just yesterday (cf Jan 26, 2017 at 6:01 PM). maybe similar problem. maybe not.

if i get some hints where to look i can also try to do some more debugging myself and/or fixing of patches.
What i could find out so far (my knowledge is not enough to tell what/if any of this is of significance):
- realtek driver appears in System report / Extensions only after i installed it via L/E
- the column "Loaded" shows "No"
- realtek does not appear in ioreg
- console shows "HALS_IOA1Engine.cpp:221:_StartIO: HALS_IOA1Engine::_StartIO: the call to the driver failed, Error: 0xE00002D8" when attempting to play any audio
- audio in windows is fine / audio via usb-adapter in OS X is fine

Sorry, but could you send me your ALC1220 codec dump? I'll try to get sound working using it (and I'm having a hard time getting linux installed).

Audio did not change for 200 series compared to 100 series. Only change is ALC1220, not installed on your motherboard

ok. do you have a hint for me where to look next? in what area would you look for the problem looking at the observations i stated?

anyone with a working series 200 ALC892 build? would like to see your setup.

Hi toleda,

thanks for putting this guide together, and helping people getting their audio working.

1- The sound on my computer will work as expected for a bit but after an extended amount of time the sound will become distorted and cut out. If you could offer any help, that would be amazing.

2- OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan
GA-X58A-UD5 Rev2.0
i7 960 3.2 Ghz
Radeon HD 6870
3- cloverALC.command

audio_codecdetect
audio_codecdetect_v2.1.command ; exit;
File: audio_codecdetect.command_v2.1

HDMI audio codec(s)

Onboard audio codec
Realtek: 0x10ec0889

OS X/10.11.6 Onboard Audio
Device: HDEF@1B
Audio ID: 1

Valid audio codec, audio device and Audio ID; audio injection is working

after an extended amount of time the sound will become distorted and cut out.
Not an audio problem. Usually a clock/overclock problem.
Boot log shows:

Turbo is clearly supported, perhaps, a Clover issue.
Off topic.

Sorry for my basic question:
- does osx Sierra 10.12.1 could use Display port cable to carry sound on a screen with audio speaker inside.
(My macbook pro midle 2014 with Thunderbolt 2 cable can on this screen)

Thank's for your help

Just installed a fresh Sierra on GA-Z68XP-UD3 board. Sound didn't work. Turned out it was a simple switch from "Digital Out" to "Internal Speakers" in Preferences --> Sound --> Output
