What speakers are connected to what?
Since no audio app is running, how you confirm sound?

  1. No sound out of any analog audio ports except for the center/subwoofer output on the rear. No HDMI audio (I can post in the other tread about this if needed). See item 11 for more details.

    2. I've tried HDMI audio (doesn't work) and a TRS analog cable with every output on the computer and the only one that works is the center/subwoofer.
    3. I've tried all four output devices:
      • "Internal Speaker - Built-in" (does nothing)
      • "Line Out - Analog line-out port" (outputs to center/subwoofer only)
      • "Line Out - Analog line-out port" (also outputs to center/subwoofer only)
      • "Digital Out - Optical digital-out port" (doesn't output to HDMI, haven't tried optical)

I think I've already done as you suggest in Post #1/ I. No Sound/1. Audio Outputs/1. Speakers, but it's a little unclear to me what you're asking me to do. My motherboard does not have a "green port". It does have 5 gold analog audio connections, all female TRS. The are labelled "Center/Subwoofer Out Jack", "Rear Speaker Output", "Line In", "Line Out" and "Mic In". I also have a mic input and headphone output on the front of my case.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're telling me to disconnect all audio devices before plugging only my speakers into the "Line Out" jack on my motherboard's IO panel, select the "Internal Speaker - Built In" output device in my Sound preferences, then try to play some iTunes music as 75% volume. I've already done that, and the result was no sound.

I've rigorously tested every possible combination of connecting a single device (either headphones or speakers, not both at once) to every single analog audio connection on my computer with each of the 4 output devices selected, and the results were as I noted in my previous post:


  • "Internal Speaker - Built-in" (does nothing)
  • "Line Out - Analog line-out port" (outputs to center/subwoofer only)
  • "Line Out - Analog line-out port" (also outputs to center/subwoofer only)
  • "Digital Out - Optical digital-out port" (doesn't output to HDMI, haven't tried optical)

I apologize if I'm a little slow to understand or overly pedantic. I'm new at this hackintosh thing. I really appreciate your help, though.

I will try mounting the ELI partition via that app, and see if I can get you Clover's config.plist. I will also get the IOJones file. /Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext still does not exist on my box, so I don't know what you want me to do about that.

EDIT: I also posted just prior to this in response to your suggestion. I see it on my user profile page but not in this thread for some reason. It was regarding the sound test you suggested from Post 1. Essentially the result was no sound for me. I can repost the details if necessary.

Evidence suggest otherwise. The is nothing special with your system.

Plug the speaker into that "gold" port
As suggested previously, select System Preferences/Sound/Output/"Internal Speakers"

Note: each System Preferences audio device connects to only one audio port. Testing any other combination results in no audio by design.

I don't know where you got that image, but the manual that came in the box with my motherboard has that port labelled as "Line Out" and does not show the green connector. Regardless, we can refer to it as Front Speaker Out if you'd like.

Okay, now I feel really dumb. It's working now and I have no idea why. I did exactly that at least twice these past two days and got no sound both times. But trying it a third time to humor you, it's working all of a sudden. I have no idea what changed, but it's working. Thank you!

I apologize for having you look through my stuff when apparently the problem was something I was doing wrong on my end. I have no idea what I was doing wrong, though. I think I might be going insane.

Now to figure out how to get the HDMI audio working. I'm going to try to follow the guide in the HDMI audio thread and see if that works since MultiBeast did not. I guess I'll post in that thread if I get stuck or it still doesn't work.

Quick question. Just did a fresh install w/ El Capitan:

GA-H87N-WIFI (latest BIOS)
Installed MultiBeast ALC892

Everything works, but my 2 channel audio only comes out of the LEFT channel :) Any thoughts on how to get it to come out in STEREO?

I apologize, no mal-intent. I ended up doing a simple headphone test (consider that ground-breaking!) and it turned out to be a blown Logitech speaker.....time for a new set!
