Get a 1TB MX500 instead. Never seen one overheat ever. I've got older Crucial M4 SSDs that still work after 11 years of daily use. They're not even 250GB or more in size either. Very small, yet they've held up well.

The WD Black 770 card is just about comparable in price... what I'm looking for is the speed advantage of a NVMe card over a SATA-III SSD drive, particularly if I'm going to be running Windows in an emulation sandbox like Parallels - which is RAM-hungry and can be processor-intensive.

I have WD 750SE as my boot drive. My computer crashes every now and then. It works but it is not stable.

Here are few lines from the latest crash report I had today:
