Hi everyone,

I want to build my first hackintosh for music production on OS X Mountain Lion. I’m looking for some feedback to get the best Ivy Bridge configuration.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k
I won’t overclock the CPU but I want the best one, so I choose the 3770k. i7-3770 is also fine for me if there is something important to consider for not choosing the 3770k.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
This one has Firewire ports for my soundcard.

Video card: Point of View GeForce GTS 250 (already have) or should I buy GeForce*GTX 550 Ti? I don’t know if the GTS 250 would be OK. I just look at the CustoMac build config and GTX 550 Ti is the cheapest alternative. Actually I don't need Video Card, is it possible?

RAM: Corsair DDR3 Vengeance PC12800 16GB (2X8GB) - CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10.
Any recommendations? I need an advice for RAM.

HDD: WD Caviar Black SATA III 1 TB for Mac OS X (already have)
WD Caviar Green SATA III 2 TB x 2 (already have)
WD Caviar Green SATA II 2 TB x 2 (already have)
WD Caviar Green SATA II 1 TB x 1 (already have)
WD Caviar Blue SATA II 320 GB (already have)
I don’t need SSD.

PSU: Seasonic M12II Bronze Series 620 W (already have)

Chassis: NZXT Phantom (already have)

CPU cooler: Should I get one? What is the good one?

Monitor: LG M2341A LCD 23” 1920x1080 Resolution (already have)

I would use the computer just for running Logic Pro 9. I need the Firewire port for MOTU UltraLite soundcard and I hope USB ports would be 100% working. If GA-Z77X-UD5H has some problems, it’s OK to get the GA-Z77-DS3H. I don’t really need wifi or another internet/gaming stuff.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

You are correct - for an audio production rig the HD4000 onboard iGPU is all you need. Everything else looks OK.
For a CPU cooler, you really need to look at how high your RAM is (for clearance under the cooler fins if the cooler covers the ram slots) and how much room is in your case (how tall can the cooler be). A Scythe Ninja Rev.B is a good one, or the Noctua NH-D12.
