MP3's won't play back

I've come to the conclusion that the noise is not a problem caused by the audio chip or some drivers but rather static interference from the graphics card. Mailed the Gigabyte support and asked them what I could do about it

Also, IIRC, MacMan mentioned something similar on a Samsung drive...

Reporting in that Win7 does not spin it up randomly



Besides of that, my system is quite perfect now.
I fixed the jet-engine graphics card monster by installing a cooler master gpu fan. Had to do some brazing on it but it works fine now.
I also got rid of the static noise. At least it's quieter now. Put some isolation pads in between the mobo and its mounts.
