Monterey Installer Crashes Around 12 Minute-Mark

So after finally getting my installer to boot, I try installing Monterey to my PC. Three or four times so far, it crashes at the same point in the installation. I've tried installing to partitions (main goal is a multiboot Hackintosh), then the entire drive. Same result


Thing is, I can't even boot back in to the OC recovery menu afterward if the same drive that I was installing MacOS to is installed. After it crashes at the 12 minute mark, I try to boot back in to the OC installer OR the recovery, and it still crashes. I have to delete the partitions and installation created by the MacOS installer in order to even boot OC again. But OC boots each time with the default Windows drive that I always used.

Your laptop has unsupported graphics. You'll need, ideally, 7th gen HD630, 8th, 9th or 10th gen Intel UHD 630 graphics for a laptop to work with Monterey. Ventura is also an option with HD and UHD 630. The Xeon "P" series integrated graphics have never had macOS support.

Oh. When I was building the config.plist, I saw a config entry for the P530 card. So I thought if I just followed the syntax to have the dGPU disabled, it would work. I knew that the dGPU would never work with Monterey or Ventura.

This chart from Intel shows the Professional graphics separate from Consumer. Apple only ever used Consumer Intel iGPUs and never the P versions. Every Mac Pro used a Xeon without an iGPU. They also make it more confusing as they call some Consumer iGPUs "Iris Pro" when they are in the Consumer class. You can see below there's Iris Pro 580 and Iris Pro P580 with exactly the same specs. The difference is that one supports ECC memory (P580) and the other doesn't.

500 Series Intel Integrated graphics​

Many here have tried to get the "P" iGPUs to work with macOS but everyone failed to do so.

Thank you for your help. I think you save me a lot of time. Maybe I could try Big Sur and use my dGPU, or just put the project on hold till I get a more suitable laptop.

Sierra or High Sierra might be possible with the web drivers. I don't believe anyone has used Nvidia discrete graphics on a laptop exclusively. Maybe @Feartech could comment on this.

if it is nvidia optimus then no, not supported

unless you can disable the intel graphics in the bios then using the web drivers in High Sierra may work

Thank you everyone. I will just look for a more suitable laptop. Hackintoshing is hard enough, and I've put in enough work to even get this far. I don't feel like going through a bunch more stuff just for a *maybe*. And I'd prefer to install a recent version of MacOS.
