Hi everyone! I have a PowerMac G5 with the 2x2GHz PowerPC G5, Ram-10Gb, Hard drive-500Gb and Leopard OSx. My question is: Can I upgrade my Mac to Mavericks? If not, can I do hackintosh?

Thanks!

Well the G5 will not run the newer OS X versions.

But you could do a conversion to Intel and run the latest versions. Check out the Workshop forums and see what people are doing to extend the G5 PowerMac (case) into today.

Good modding

I have a PPC PowerMac G5, running Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) because it is the latest OS version that supports Classic. I believe the latest Mac OS version the G5 will run is 10.5.8 (Leopard). I also built a "Hackintosh" in order to run Intel apps and the latest Mac OS (currently 10.10.4 Yosemite). Because the PPC PowerMacs use IBM/Motorola CPUs, which have a different instruction set than Intel CPUs, the operating systems are fundamentally different, and so are apps.
