Hello Tonymac community,

I hope this question hasn't been answered before, but I couldn't find anything the like, so I'm gonna ask away: I recently bought a Mad Catz R.A.T. 3 mouse. For this mouse Mad Catz offers OS X software which lets you configure the buttons, adjust the DPI settings and so on. You can save your settings in a profile. So far so good.

Now everytime I boot up the mouse software doesn't recognize the mouse and therefore won't load my profile. I have to unplug and replug the mouse manually for the software to see my device.

Could this have to do with my Mac being a hackintosh and somehow having bugged USB connections? I cannot explain it in any way. All the USB ports seem to work just fine (for example OS X has no problem detecting external drives on bootup even if I don't unplug and replug them). And once the mouse is plugged in again everything works as it should, too.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Cheers,
rmn

I use a R.A.T. 7 mouse and it is finicky about which USB port I use. But I had USB problems anyway, several USB port would go on/off three or four times before settling down.

I discovered a problem USB header on the MB and quit using it (the header) and things have settled down for me.

Also, I dual boot (Win 8.1 / OSX Yosemite) but I only configure the mouse using the Windows utility because it contains many more options than the Mac software. The Mouse seems to remember most of those setting between OS changes.

Thanks. Will try a different port when I get back from the holidays.

I have a similar problem. The system boots up to the unibeast page and in order to initiate the boot I have to unplug and plug the old style mouse. but then the usb keyboard mouse will work when mavericks boots up.. I tried changing the bios but am wondering if I need to change it on the mac side ...

My workaround, until I fix it , is to never shut off the computer. If I leave it in sleep mode and the usb mouse and keyboard work.
I'll keep digging..

I thought I'd give this Console listing a recheck...
First, my Mad Catz Editor is NOT loaded at every boot. There is NO need to put it into the log-in items in your "Users & Groups" Control Panel. That was is happening with THIS ERROR:
20.12.14 14:18:57,422 loginwindow[65]: ERROR | OpenItemAtURL | Login items - LSOpenApplication returned error -600, url=/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/MadCatzSmartTechnology.app

Since it couldn't load that app it couldn't locate the data it needed here:
20.12.14 14:18:58,100 MadCatzSmartTechnology[258]: Could not find image named 'device'.
20.12.14 14:19:21,109 MadCatzSmartTechnology[258]: device removal detected - closing driver connection

So it closed the connection.

THEN it begins to load the DRIVER (not the EDITOR):
20.12.14 14:19:23,000 kernel[0]: com_MadCatz_driver_CyborgRAT[0xffffff8010af2200]::start()
20.12.14 14:19:23,764 MadCatzSmartTechnology[258]: -[MCProfile initFromFile:forDevice:withDelegate:] Loading profile at: /Library/Application Support/Smart Technology/Devices/CyborgRAT.bundle/Contents/Resources/Default-rat3.pr0
20.12.14 14:19:23,792 MadCatzSmartTechnology[258]: activating shift state Mode 1
20.12.14 14:19:36,169 MadCatzSmartTechnology[258]: -[MCProfile initFromFile:forDevice:withDelegate:] Loading profile at: /Users/.../Library/Application Support/Smart Technology/RAT/OSX1.pr0
20.12.14 14:19:36,179 MadCatzSmartTechnology[258]: activating shift state Mode 1

The driver gets it data from the "/Library/Application Support..." line, and loads the Default-rat3.pr0 profile.
But then for some reason it then loads a different profile from the Users library - OSX1.pr0.

OSX recognizes that something might be wrong and tells the system to trigger a "rebuild" of the kernel cache.
20.12.14 14:20:23,000 kernel[0]: considerRebuildOfPrelinkedKernel com.madcatz.driver.CyborgRAT triggered rebuild

Bottom line, download the latest driver and editor. UNLOAD/DELETE the older one and then reinstall with admin level privileges.

My Editor is at version 1.1.59, my CyborgRAT.kex in the S/L/E folder is at 1.0.69 and the Driver (shown in the RAT Control Panel is at 1.1.69

Good Luck
/Bob

Wow, thanks for taking the time to dig through that log. Will test your solution and get back to you.

So i tried my best to rid the software of my drive (uninstall plus manual deletion of some files), but nothing has changed since the re-installation. :(
