Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update - The Official Laptop Thread

Not open for further replies.
Hi guys.
I have a lot of problems with the installation hack on my laptop.
configurations:
Acer Aspire 7750G
i5-2410M
ATI HD6850M
I can not understand why he does not want to install. I have tried many ways but no one did not work.
My method of installation:
- Boot with iBoot
- Install retail 10.6.3
- Boot with GraphicsEnabler = No
- When i install combo 10.6.8 i have a kernel panic, and i install this update from another 10.6.3 installed on second hard drive
now at boot I have the console in which I can adjust the volume, I hear the sounds
Mac dont load with-x-v and another parameters have the same result
Please help me

I've tried updating to the 10.6.8 today and as suggested I made a copy of a few kexts known to cause a few issues and on reboot the system had a panic from 1 of the kexts and I cannot get into single user mode so need to remove the kext from terminal on the retail disk.
My problem is when I try to delete the kexts it says : Read-only file system.

Sudo command is not recognised, so how can I remove the kexts if it says read only?

i run combo update 10.6.8 after request to restart go to S/L/E and remove
appleHDEnable.kext run multibeast to reinstall wirelss kext and repair permission
every thing running ok

Hi @ all, i don't get the OS 10.6.8 work.
i don't know what to do ....

I installed the 10.6.8 combo update, used the AppleACPIPlatform.kext, IOPCIFamily.kext and IO80211Family.kext of the 10.6.7 version and I removed AppleHDA.kext, but i can not find the SleepEnabler.kext.

so far, so good, i i've done this, i reebooted my system, it started but the usb and blutooth port are out of work...
so i tried an other way, after installing the combo update, i ran multibeast, but it doesnt work, the install of the newest multibeast failed because of the kext....

what can i do?? please help me...

Guide I tried to follow:
http://x64bitdimension.jimdo.com/uilità-osx86/osx86-hradware/dell-xps-15-l502x/

Where I'm at now, current Result:
2011-06-28 06.50.23.jpg

System:
Make/Model: MSI A6405
Intel Core i5-2410M Sandy Bridge (Intel HD 3000)
4GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M

Process
BIOS, set to optimised defaults
iBoot-Legacy with SL retail 10.6.3:
Code:
-v -f GraphicsEnabler=no busratio=23
Install + Reboot using legacy:
Code:
-v GraphicsEnabler=no busratio=23
bash out the following commands
Code:
cd /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins
sudo rm -R ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

Reboot using legacy:
Code:
-v GraphicsEnabler=no busratio=23
installed 10.6.8 combo update (didn't restart)
opened multi-beast, chose:
  • System Utilities (constantly failed to install)
    FakeSMC
    USBRollback
    NullCPUPowermanagement
    Chimera v1.4.1
    MacBookPro 8,1
Closed MultiBeast

Followed:
Edit Device Properties in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist to include the following
Code:
<key>device-properties</key>
<string>600000000100000001000000540000000100000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04001e00
00004100410050004c002c006f0073002d0069006e0066006f0000001800000030490111111108000001f01f01000000
10070000</string>

Rebooted, then all I got was the above attached screen.

Attempted the following to no avail:
Code:
-v pmVersion=0
-x
GraphicsEnabler=no
PCIRootUID=1
Also attempted http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=23197:
4. Copy the attached boot file to your SL root. Thing is that 10.6.8 have kexts for HD2000/3000 inbuilt, but Chimera is lacking the DeviceIDs for these chipset. So the attached bootloader will solve the issue. I have discussed it with tonymac and hopefully we will see an updated release of Chimera soon.

Any pointers/hints/tips greatly appreciated

Yes..it's AAPL,os-info code from MBP8,1 dump for intelHD 3000
Code:
<key>device-properties</key>
<string>600000000100000001000000540000000100000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04001e00
00004100410050004c002c006f0073002d0069006e0066006f0000001800000030490111111108000001f01f01000000
10070000</string>

But I injected the code to com.Apple.Boot.plist in Extra folder n' left /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist untouched.

Is that one long string or are the newlines required?

WiFi problem here too with a ZyXEL NWD2105 (USB WiFi Adapter), have on CD Snow Leopard driver but work only in safe boot, not in normal boot.

I have an Asus G73Jw ... i tried to install 10.6.8 update but still stuck on "pci configuration begin"...

I tried to install prior reboot nvidia update and multibeast without success... any solution?
I've downloaded http://www.mediafire.com/?u6sietuh5b0rh6t that would fix it but i have to find time for test it...

Tnx in advance
