Thanks! Updated the OP.
Just wanted to contribute....

Powercolor Radeon HD 7750 was pretty much plug and play.

I had this machine:

CPU: Intel Core i3 3.09Ghz
RAM: 4GB 1333Mhz
GPU: Radeon HD 5570 (before)
Powercolor Radeon HD 7750 1GB (after)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3

I had a stable system running 10.8.2. I updated to 10.8.3, set the BIOS to always enable the integrated Graphics from Intel. I then plugged in my Powercolor Radeon 7750.

Booted up and everything was good. I didn't need to edit anything or do any other changes. I have full Graphics acceleration.
Do you know the model number and Device ID for that PowerColor 7750?
Thanx KNNSpeed for replying. I tried using GTX260 with 7970, GTX260 set as primary card but the system get stuck in boot loop: It boots up goes into chimera but as soon as I press enter it boots again:banghead:. Tried with GraphicsEnabler=No as well but same results.
Odd. It should work plug-and-play if you just boot with the GTX 260 as primary. It's in the primary slot on the motherboard, too, right?
If it is in the primary slot, I'd think it's related to your motherboard. Most people who got it to work are using LGA1155-socketed Z77 chipsets, but I see you have an x58. I'm scratching my head here, too, at this point... :banghead:
Can you please point me on how to try to make it work?
I'd love to have my Asus working almost 100% with my Graphic Card :)

Thanks!
The problem is it's not even in the kext, and I have no idea what architecture the 7470m is based on. If it's a GCN chip, it might work if you edited the Device ID 0x67601002 into the same kexts hazemhazoom and Keegrom edited for the 7850 trick, but success is essentially not guaranteed at all. That's compounded by the fact that it's not a slimmed down version of another working card like the 7850 is just a slimmed down 7870.

AFAIK the 7470M is a rebadged 6490M.
But well, i'll try to edit the kext and i'll come here later to report.

Thanks for your pacience on trying to help people here, specially me :)

You're welcome!

If it's just a rebadge, maybe you'd need to edit the AMD 6000 series kexts instead.
This is outside my realm of knowledge, though; all I can help with at this point would be making a custom personality if the drivers even load at all.

You're gonna need to post waaay more than just, "It doesn't work, help!" That doesn't tell us anything. ;)

The basic steps to installing a 7970 are:
  1. Put it in.
  2. Boot. If you get a white screen, do the sleep trick.
  3. If the sleep trick cannot be done, refer to the first post about the white screen issue for a workaround.

If you still have problems after that, please be specific about what happens and where/when it happens so we can help as best we can.

On another note, updated the OP.

Thanks!

Also, updated the OP with new information about installation with only a Radeon HD 7xxx card.

Don't mean to double post, but there's been some big things happening in the HD 7xxx Series on OS X world:

First, HD 7870 Tahiti LE cards work. On MacMan's list in the second post, they are the HD 7800 cards with Device ID 0x679E1002.

Second, there is a new workaround for the white screen issue that does not involve the sleep trick or a second graphics card.

Third, a bunch of new cards have been added to the OP, in addition to the OP's getting reorganized slightly. Now all we're missing are tests for/reports of 7990s and 7790s, and I think we might also be able to get 7970x2s working if we can get 7990s working.

First, 7870 Tahiti LE cards work with a new Device ID for MacMan's list (0x679E1002).

I've been reading this thread but I don't remember seeing anyone post experiences with the 7870 tahiti le. I'm not sure how to parse what you're saying here. I went back and looked at MacMan's post, and 0x679E1002 is already in that list. That would lead me to believe that this should work out of the box with no modifications. Is that correct?

Thanks.
