<< Solved >> Install Nvidia Web Driver for Build ID 17G66 (BRAND new High Sierra build???)

Sorry for hijacking your thread Schnapsdrossel, but I am encountering Nvidia problems similar to yours and thought I should seek advice from everyone here.

So a little background info first: I've been trying to do a clean install of High Sierra for the past week to varying degrees of failures. I was working on my El Cap + Stork's "Gene" build and badly needed a newer OS.

Here's what I'm running on:
  • Asus VIII Gene Z170 + i5-6600K
  • Gigabyte Geforce GTX 950
  • Corsair Vengence LPX 2x8Gb
  • Dell U2415 (HDMI cable plugged to gfx card and monitor)
(yep, I followed Stork's awesome build extremely closely;))

I followed the High Sierra installation guide too and managed to get it running. Audio seemed fine and I had access to the internet, but the screen resolution was stuck at only one option - 1280x1048.

Under system preferences, I had my macOS version as 10.13.6 (17G66) and could see my graphics card listed. However, I couldn't install Nvidia web drivers despite trying out all the methods I've found - slim.jim, vulgo, Benjamin Dobell's link etc. I've tried removing the nv_disable=1 bootflag, changing the csractiveconfig to 0x00, installing the EMUVariableUEFI-64.efi into the correct folder etc. There were installation versions that resulted in a kernel panic, a black screen and another saw my boot drive go missing from the Clover page.

Finally, I've tried installing the new security patch provided above. After getting past the Clover page - "Boot from HD" option, there is Apple loading screen and I found myself back at the black screen problem. I can hear audio from my speakers and I'm pretty sure everything is running as it should be, but my screen is blacked out. Oh yes btw, my HDMI cable plugged to my graphics card and I'm using a Dell U2415 monitor. Does this make a difference?

Having gone through days of trying and troubleshooting, I'm still completely stuck and without a clue on how to fix my Nvidia problem. This is starting to feel like a modern Sisyphus tale, where I am doomed to forever installing high sierra onto my hackintosh.

If anyone can help or have a look at my config list, I will greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much!

My MacOS build is 17G66 which is not listed with any Web Driver version, so I used the terminal to get the driver automatically with instruction from here: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update

Try this script
Code:
bash <(curl -s https://vulgo.github.io/webdriver) 387.10.10.10.40.113
When I do this I get a /dev/fd/63: permission denied error. Any thoughts?

Current Security Update for High Sierra as of April 11, 2020 is now 2020-002

Other than Nvidia drivers, have any experienced issues with latest security updates (2020-001 or 2020-002) that broke any part of your os 10.13.6?

I'm a bit confused by your 2 posts... maybe I don't understand how the scripts work.
on March 21, 2020 you say:
bash <(curl -s https://vulgo.github.io/webdriver) 387.10.10.10.40.113
--> it works well for me. thanks.

and 10 days later on March 31, 2020 you say:
My MacOS build is 17G66 which is not listed with any Web Driver version, so I used the terminal to get the driver automatically with instruction from here: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update

(from NVIDIA Driver Manager):
NVIDIA Web Driver: 387.10.10.10.40.135 (Up to Date)

Last check was 3/331/20, 00:29

Were you on a build earlier than 17G66 when you posted on March 21, then updated to 17G66 some time between March 21 and March 31 and then used the Benjamin-Dobell script?

Confusing because 17G66 has been out for some time now...

Thanks for any clarification...
