Hello,
I'd like to build a hackintosh music production workstation. I'll use a Logic x pro and a lot of VSTi.

Which build is better:

  1. CPU - Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge Socket 2011
Motherboard - GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI (Max RAM 64gb, WireFire port)
    RAM - Corsair 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (If neccesy I'll take more)
SSD - SanDisk Extreme II 6Gb/s 240 gb
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1 TB SATA 6
    Video - GIGABYTE GeForce GT640
External Audio - TC Electronic Konnekt 6 - only WireFire

    or
  2. CPU - Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell LGA1150
Motherboard - GA-Z87X-UD7-TH (Max RAM 32gb, no WireFire port so need to buy PCIe(or thunderbolt) to WireFire adapter, but have a thunderbolt port!)
    RAM - Corsair 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (If neccesy I'll take more)
SSD - SanDisk Extreme II 6Gb/s 240 gb
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1 TB SATA 6
    Video - GIGABYTE GeForce GT640
External Audio - TC Electronic Konnekt 6 - only WireFire

I've read a lot of info and some people said that Hasswel is more newest technology(4th generation) than Ive Bridge, and in many benchmarks i7-4770K is better than i7-4820K. Some people said that Haswell motherboard have bigger latency than Ivy Bridge ...

It strange but price for socket 2011 motherboard is less than for socket 1150 motherboard.

In addition, Mac Pro have a socket 2011 and Imac have a socket 1150(or even 1155).

Which build is better?

Take a look at the music section to see what systems are used the most often for audio.

It's not easy to find at first and takes a little drilling down in the Clubhouse section so you may not have seen it yet. http://www.tonymacx86.com/music/
