As a newbie, just successfully installed El Capitan 10.11.4 on my HP EliteBook 8470P with AMD graphic. And want to summary what I have done in one thread to help other people who may run into similar situation.

1. Installed 10.11.4 by following this guide:
[Guide] Install 10.11 on HP EliteBook/ProBook/others with Clover UEFI

2. Once done with the installation, followed this following thread to fix the boot issue by removing incompatible kext: /System/Library/Extensions/IntelBacklight.kext
HP Elitebook 8470p AMD only

3. Also fixed the audio issue by this thread:
[Fix] 10.11.4 broken audio with AppleHDA injector (dummyHDA)

What working:
  • Bluetooth
  • Display
  • TouchPad
  • External Display Port
  • USB3 and USB2 ports
  • Audio
  • Keyboard
  • Special function keys like: volume up/down, brightness up/down, sleep...
  • Wired LAN port
  • Battery Meter

What not working:
  • WiFi (known and need to replace with compatible one)
  • Wake up from sleep

Issue needs help:
It seems to be able to get into sleep. However, when wake up, the screen is always black (didn't test the external monitor). I'd appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks in advance.

Attach ioreg as ZIP: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html. Please, use the IORegistryExplorer v2.1 attached to the post! DO NOT reply with an ioreg from any other version of IORegistryExplorer.app.

Provide output (in Terminal):
Code:
kextstat|grep -y acpiplat
kextstat|grep -y appleintelcpu
kextstat|grep -y applelpc
kextstat|grep -y applehda

Attach EFI/Clover folder as ZIP (press F4 at main Clover screen before collecting). Please eliminate 'themes' directory. Provide only EFI/Clover, not the entire EFI folder.

Attach output of (in Terminal):
Code:
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /

Compress all files as ZIP. Do not use external links. Attach all files using site attachments only.

Thank RehabMan for the quick response. The files have been attached.

Not sure if it made any difference, but I collected the EFI/CLOVER folder by mounting the EFI partition.

Thanks again

It is probably due to incorrect backlight implementation. You could try ACPIBacklight.kext or do some research to determine how to patch AppleBacklight.kext (or build an injector) correctly for Radeon.

You should also check that the ATIConnectorsData matches the current 10.11.4 kext.

I'm also having the same issue with sleep on my 8470P, specs in my sig. I followed the instructions qqqyyy posted, which did help greatly in getting this machine running, so thanks!

From my testing, it's not just that the screen stays black - after attempting to wake, the system doesn't respond to ping, nothing on external monitor or VNC, etc. Most of the time the system reboots when I try to wake it up.

ACPIBacklight doesn't work for me, it just stops backlight control from working. ATIConnectors seems to be ok, I think.

Here's my ioreg and EFI. Terminal output are as follows:

Problems with sleep on 10.11 with AMD mobile are well known. No solution that I know of (of course, I don't have the hardware, so I'm not looking for a solution either).

Maybe go back to Yosemite.
