High Sierra wake problem (x79)

Not open for further replies.
The BIOS can turn off the power to the device, but a device driver or the OS can turn it back on. In fact, there is really no way to turn off the Asmedia Chipset in the ASUS BIOS. You can see this for yourself by trying to turn it off and then launching Windows 10 and looking at the device manager

Well, I just did that, and I see no trace of the ASM chip in the device manager, at least not under the USB section. Where do you see that?

Has the USB and or sleep worked in previous versions of OS X?
Did you patch any DSDT your SSDT?
The behavior appears slightly promising.

Sleep works perfect upto 10.12.6. No special USB drivers are loaded. DSDT & SSDT are both patched, SSDT patches are piker alpha's CPU, Audio injection, Mac Pro 6,1 workaround.

Bios code sequence now

bit of an update, with 10.13.4 I'm getting a different wake behavior, now instead of getting a continuous reset loop, the machine appears to start for a few seconds and then shut down on a mouse click wake. Nothing useful showing in pmset -g log though anyone else confirm or know how to fix this?

For me, wake behavior has not really changed with 10.13.4

Btw: as I see it the Lenovo D30 does not contain any ASM chips at all, correct? So that would also support my assertion that it has nothing todo with ASM1042. Plus, I also do not see any traces of such device in ioReg (if disabled via BIOS).

You're not going to see anything if there's no driver to bind to it. You really have to go deep in the Advanced mode where you can control onboard devices. It will tell you that the device isn't turned off even if it is disabled. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll upload a photo screenshot.

Well, maybe I am just stupid but i cannot find any "advanced mode" in neither ioreg or the windows device manager. So yeah, a screen would be nice! But even if you are right, why are also boards affected that do not have the ASM10142 controller?

Aynways, so if you can fix this, you are truly my hero  If I can do anything to help, let me know.

more things that do not fix the issue:
updating BIOS Intel RAID/SATA code
updating BIOS Intel Gigabit Ethernet code
updating BIOS CPU microcode patch to 713
updating Intel ME 7.x version to latest
disabling Intel ME completely
playing with MMCFGBASE
getting a new monitor ;)

edit: swap OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi for AptioMemoryFix (R15) doesn't work either

Next week i will try to install high sierra 10.13.1 and i will rollback apple pm extensions with 10.12.6 one by one, maybe at least find the extension who make the trouble.
Has anyone already tried?

(ASM usb3 and sata6 controllers disabled on bios and removed from dsdt)

It is possible to disable intel me?
