How do I go about learning kext patching for my specific laptop? Would you suggest DSDT patches as well, or a combination of both?

DSDT patches are already present and correct.

For AppleHDA patching, google 'patch AppleHDA guide'...

not sure if i can post about the other laptops.

i tried your clover patch, but hot pluging HDMI cable causes KP on my laptop with HD4600

is there anyway fix this, i dont need audio only video output with hot plugging.

Which patch are you referring to? Does your laptop have DP or HDMI port? Did you implement HDMI/DP-audio?

If you're using Clover, run with native nvram (eg. without EmuVariableUefi-64.efi) to get proper KP reports.

OS X does not switch audio output automatically. You have to manually select it from SysPrefs->Sound.
