Okay!
The HP website shows different available BIOS versions depending on OS (windows 7, 8, 10) - should I simply pick the most recent one?

Most recent. It is probably under Win10.

Ah bugger. All BIOS updates are supplied as .exe executables. No windows machines a tune all in my house! Apparently you end up with a .bin file which you can put on a USB stick. Thanks, HP!

Your computer can run Windows.

Hi RehabMan,
I have a HP EliteBook 840 G1 and I have bought supported WiFi card BCM94322HM8L . System recognizes it but I cannot activate it. There is an option "Activate WiFi" but when I press it nothing happens ... Also Wifi button on the cover is in "Off" mode and deoes not react on pressing.
Can you please take a look on problem reporting files attached ? Maybe someone else faced the same problem ?
Thanks in advance

No files attached.
Read post #1, "Problem Reporting".

Apologies. Here is complete set.

According to ioreg, WiFi is working (drivers are loading as expected).
You should do two things, in this order:
- verify your WiFi hardware is working on Windows
- use the power WiFi power toggle to turn the WiFi device on
(be patient after pressing and wait for networks to populate, do not mash it like a crazy person).

Keep in mind the LED may not reflect WiFi power state...

Ok. Situation is good :) Wifi works now.
What I did is still mistery for me....
1. Booted to windows (from another hdd and had to switch from "UEFI" mode to "UEFI Hibrid with CSM" in bios to do that) - Wifi Card worked perfect there - Wifi power led reacts as expected
2. Switched back to "UEFI" and booted ElCapitan with clover again - Wifi Started to work also here :). This is true - WiFi power led still claims it is off, but I can use wifi w/o problems.
??? Automagically it started to work ....
Anyway, Thanks Rehab, for doing a great work here !

Happy Holidays :)
