I looked up the model and it's sata. Created 2 new USB sticks (sierra and El Capitan) and placed the sata-100-series-unsupported.kext in efi/clover/kexts/10.11 (and 10.12) but no joy

Do I need to do anything else except copy pasting the kexts files there?

I wonder of this is the issue:

Double check your bios settings. Are you on version 1.19?

This really shouldn't make a difference I don't think, but there are a couple things you have set differently than me. I have the TPM Device set to Available, and VT-x / VT -d are enabled on my machine. Dropping the DMAR table takes care of any problems with that stuff.

Looks like the vt-x vt-d did the trick!!

Now installing os x

Try hitting brightness down and then brightness up. Could be an nvram thing. Also bear in mind that you're installing Sierra but are in the El Cap thread. I changed things slightly in the Sierra guide.

Will give that a go. Ended up installing El Capitan as that was the USB that I had plugged in when it finally started working.

looks like I forgot to copy/paste the config.plist to the efi partition on my ssd ... now working! Thanks Jhax01!
