Thanks for the reply buddy.
Im at the office right now, but i'll check later if that kext will work. (my hackintosh is at home)

My USB 3.0 port at the back is working. its just that the front Bus (both 2.0 & 3.0) and the front audio doesnt work....

I haven’t checked speed on my back USB 3 ports. Nor have I checked front audio. I’ll let you know what I find. On your back USB 3 - did you try a large file transfer to verify it was better than a USB 2 port? I checked my front ones with an external USB 3 drive and a 6 GB file, compared to USB 3 on my MacBook Pro.

I just did some testing on my system. Both USB 3 back ports work too, and a USB 3 device ends up on the USB 3 bus in System Information. The audio out on the top works fine - I do have to choose headphones as my output device. As mentioned above Bluetooth isn't working. I may try one thing with it.

Ive tried my front USB and only 1 is working out of 2, i doubt if its the bus (port) that has an issue, will try to clean it as well again... Front Audio for me is working...
Blue port at the back also works but I cant confirm if it does the 3.0 thing....

here is the screen shot even though a USB flash drive is not detected on it but appears on my disk utility.

Just got my XPS 8500 up on Mojave. Had to switch out the video card to AMD, but works VERY well. Having an intermittent issue with USB not being recognized, though. When it works, everything work great.

Has anyone else got Mojave on their XPS 8500?

Update: USB is working now. Not sure what I did, however I did inject USB and Fix Permissions using Clover Config. Attached are my USB Device Tree, my EFI directory and my S/E directory.

Delighted to hear you made it all the way to Mojave, and that your USB issues have vanished. I have excellent USB performance - all ports front, back and top, and the 2 USB 3 ports are recognized and are "up to speed". My unit is working great on Sierra, but Ive run into a brick wall trying to transition to High Sierra. Have not attempted Mojave (yet). On my unit, the only thing that ISN'T working well is Bluetooth - but the Dell OEM WiFi is fine. As you can see from my profile, mine is a core i7.

My problem is all about my GPU. I'm currently using WhateverGreen 1.20. If I try any newer version, my unit boots to a yellow screen. I was able to get a USB installer for High Sierra to boot properly, and install, but when the install finishes, and the Mac is booting the full OS for the first time, I get a "rainbow" pinwheel in the upper left corner of the monitor, then a full screen full of code, with a line at the bottom saying that the GPU has crashed and is "attempting to recover". Of course, it never does recover. So I have to reinstall Sierra and move on.

Since Apple is going to "pull the plug" on Sierra this fall, I'd like to update. The GPU I'm struggling with is the one that the Dell came configured with - ATI Radeon HD 7770. I have noticed that you apparently went from the nVidia GT 620, which I assume was your OEM unit to a Radeon RX 580.

I guess I have 2 questions - where you ever able to run High Sierra, and what happened with nVidia card that forced the change?

So, no, no Mojave for me, but I wouldn't mind getting there. Thanks

I never ran High Sierra. I tried to upgrade six months ago, but had such an unstable system that I stuck with El Capitan. I revisited the upgrade a few weeks ago when I my software requirements (Docker, to be exact) forced my hand. Prior to getting Mojave up and running, I did run Sierra successfully. But my research (on this site) led me forward to Mojave, albeit accepting that I had to abandon nVidia due to their Mojave drivers not being released by Apple.

So, on to the video card. While I realize there are some nVidia cards that are supported by Mojave, I was going for lowest price and "native" support. So thats why I settled on MSI Radeon RX 580 Armor OC 4GB GDDR5 (for $90). After plugging it in, I was up and running in little time. I've always been a fan of nVidia, but it appears that Apple has left them behind.

The only thing I'm missing is wireless. While the system works just fine with ethernet, I'm looking at adding wifi/bluetooth 4 to the system. Currently I have bluetooth working with a USB dongle, but I'd like the use of that USB port and my ultimate goal is handoff support. Working on this now.

Thanks for the info. My Dell WiFi card is model DW1703. I've got the WiFi end of things working using information from here:https://github.com/chunnann/ATH9KFixup, and got the actual Kext from here:Kext zip. To get it to work reliably, I had to put Lilu and the kext into S/L/E - not into Clover. But there are reports that it doesn't work well past Sierra - I can't support or refute that. No Bluetooth here. The "Mac" knows it's there, but not functioning. Did the graphics card fit OK, and can the XPS 8500 power supply handle it? I assume that you must have gotten it used somewhere.
