Hello guys,

first of all I want to thank timohour and Likemike for their pre-work. Without them I might not even have tried it.

Nearly one year ago when I bought this notebook with HD resolution, cause I crushed the display of my old one, I was a bit dissapointed since my old one had 1440x900. Well I'am using notebook's rarely for work but I needed fast a cheap new one so bought this one.
More than a month ago I searched the internet about exchanging displays which got me here.

I thought about 1920x1080. As I saw the resolution in real I turned down this solution. The letters getting very small. I do not want to strain my eyes than absolutely necessary. So I decided to make a compromise: HD+ (1600x900)

here is what I did:
buying the 2 things necessary for the uppgrade:
buy the HD+ cable and one lcd
as other mentioned when you do buy a lcd from a vendor you get a random lcd so I just bought this one from...(since I'am from austria)
1001032 Display HP ProBook 6570b, 15,6", LED, HD+ 1600x900
http://www.screen-shop.net/

to my suprise I got a display from Innolux - never heard of them before - seems they are one of the biggest lcd suppliers

Then I did it. I have to mention that those things helped:
Manual

display exchange

Unfortunately the DVD SATA Connector got dislocated so I had to put the notebook again apart to fix that. So you guys might consider puting the dvd drive early back in the notebook.

After the assembly I started and Yepeee! It works. The display might have a bit less contrast but the angle stability is far better.

I have to admit that I am using another OS (W 7 - 64).

Just received mine all the way for Australia, I'm in the uk. I will attempt to fit it tonight, I'll report back.

Cheers.
I am now writing this on my new 1080p screen, slightly squinting, gonna take a little while to get used to the very small text, but WOW, what a difference, sooooo much more screen real estate.

I would advise though that this procedure is not for the faint hearted, am I the only one to think half way through... "this laptop is never gonna work again", but hey presto, all is good.

I got it off eBay Australia, where someone else on this thread also got one, im in the UK, a buy it now for a bargain price of £33.84 + postage of £23.69, here is the guys eBay page as he has a few I think. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/clevo-parts?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 this ia a genuine AU Optronics B156HW01 v4.

What is everyone using as colour profile for this AU Optronics B156HW01 v4?

Anyone done anything with the old screen, used it as a media centre screen or something?

Many kind thanks for this guide, it worked a charm.

Kind regards.

All this is built into the ProBook installer now isn't it? Obviously not the hardware side of things....

Support for 1080p (actually dual-link) has always been in the ProBook Installer...

thanks for the support from this thread, lots of valuable information and links have made this a very easy process.
I bought a screen from screenshop.de, then followed the instructions on page 1, worked perfectly. only issue was me routing the new display cable down the right side of the screen and not the left .. doh !
I prepared my dsdt in advance, the screen arrived and 1 hour later I had the new one up and working.
Thanks again !

I am almost ready to order a new screen before they go out of stock. I just ordered the HD+ cable.

Couple of quick questions --

1. Why are the LG screens considered inferior on this thread? Reliability? Colors? Other? They seem to be easier to find than AUO.
2. Any issues with using matte (v.4) versus glossy (v.7) screens or is it simply a matter of personal choice?

Thanks.

I don´t think that these screens are complete crap compared to the original one, but if you do the exchange of the panel, why use something "normal" when you could use something "very good"?

The AUO v4 is has been tested and has various benefits compared to other screens (viewing angle, color quality, High-Color-Gammut, covering the full sRGB, etc). LG panels maybe could be at that level, but there is no guarantee.

v4 or v7, to my opinion, is just the difference about mate or glossy. Panel seems to be the same or isn´t much differing.

As others have said here, the genuine AUO panels are very hard to find. I finally found one at Blue Fish Worx in Texas (http://www.bluefishworx.com/, I am not affiliated with them in any way). They had a couple more in stock in case anyone else is looking to upgrade their 4530s.

I got myself a V4 panel. We'll see how it goes, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Replying to my own post :)

After my post, apparently the company below sold out all their remaining inventory -- two days later, I receive my AUO panel which turns out to be a V3. Bummer. :banghead: Subsequent calls to them have not been returned. One wonders why.

In any case, I am going to replace the panel at the next opportunity I get, hopefully I won't notice a big difference between V3 and V4 as I don't run any graphics intensive apps.
