Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Hello @maxxx,

Good to see another mini ITX build. Because you're using an EFI folder from @MatiCohen's repository on GitHub, let's pose the problem to him first. Yes, this is known as passing the buck! :)

@MatiCohen, did you run into the same problem described above, namely issues with Shutdown and Restart? Is there a particular version of BIOS that you recommend?
I just have to wait for the buck to stop then.

The shutdown/restart actually work, in sense, powering off the computer, however the next logon I will get this message, eventhough I initiated the shutdown.

It is just annoying, everytime I log-on I got that message.

Thank you

Hey, @maxxx
I'm using F5 Bios, did you follow the BIOS settings in the repo?
I'm not encountering any of these issues.

careful if youre updating to the latest version of my repo, as I switched WiFI modules and removed the AirPort kext

This used to occur on Z690 Aero G, but went away with one of the Monterey 12.1 beta builds. Which version of macOS are you running?

It is not OpenCore nor Z690 Aero G problem. And it is actually Monterey bug for normal Mac.

The fix is simple, just delete "Sleep Wake Failure" file in in \Library\Logs\DiagnosticReports and it won't come back again.

Added to Troubleshooting / FAQ section in Post 1.

Update on OpenIntelWireless 2.1.0:

Both AirportItlwm 2.1.0 and IntelBluetoothFirmware 2.1.0 were released recently. Testing on Z690 Aero G with on-board Intel WiFi/BT module:
  • WiFi is working reliably and easily connects at 80MHz. Supports WPA Security 2, but not 3.
  • Bluetooth is still broken on Alder Lake boards. Looks like a known issue:
  • I’ve tried Big Sur and changing the order of kexts, but problem remains.

Cool, I'll give it a spin.

For the sleep issue, on my z170-Deluxe, I limited my ports with a USB kext only and it worked fine. For the Aero G DDR4, I assume USBInjectAll should be set to false when using one of the four USB SSDT and the XHCI port limit quirk should also be set to false?

USBInjectAll must be enabled in order to use one of the SSDT-UIAC… files. The two work together.

If using either of the two “ALL-PORTS” USB SSDTs, then XhciPortLimit must also be enabled.

Hey @MatiCohen, @CaseySJ

Thanks you for the reply. I'm currently on 12.2 beta.

I still use your initial version as the baseline, as I am using BCM94352Z, which works better wifi bandwidth in my case. The only difference is I mapped my USB using my custom kext (suit my computer case better). on BIOS version, I'm on F3, I downgrade it to F3 since the problem seems to be worse when I'm on F5.

@eos1d3, I followed your suggestion and the message went away. Shutdown now works to some degree (the longer I use the machine, the longer shutdown time it takes, and eventually machine power off). Only restart that still poses some issue, on fresh start (on the login screen) restart works fine, however after I logged on for sometimes restart stalled.

I see this on /Library/Logs
Bash:

I will close the app that cause to spin/stall and see how it goes.

@maxxx

In some cases we find that disabling “Wake on LAN” in BIOS can improve shutdown/reboot reliability. It won’t work for everyone, but it’s worth trying.

AirportItlwm 2.1.0 is an improvement and I now have a reliable WIFI connection - no drops.
