Hi,
First of all, I would like to give a big thanks to
@CaseySJ for this very detailed and excellent guide! It's my first time to build a Hackintosh and it went without a single error! I almost can't believe how easy it was!
My setup is the following:
OS: Catalina 10.15.7
Motherboard: Z490 Vision D
CPU: Intel Core i9 10850K 10x 3.60GHz So.1200 WOF
RAM: 4x 8GB Ballistix
GPU: Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse
NVME SSD: Crucial P1 500GB
PSU: 850 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 11 Modular 80+ Gold
Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Shadow Rock 3
I used the built-in Wifi and Bluetooth by using OC-061-Intel-Wireless-VISION-D during setup and this worked very well. I was able to connect to Wifi and can use my Apple Magickeyboard and Trackpad from my iMac 27 2019.
I also checked everything in the Installation Verification section, and everything is ok. System Preferences even reports the correct CPU model!
I just wish TB3 is working so that I can use my Qnap TB3 10GBE but I'm a bit nervous about flashing the chip. So instead, I plan to use an ASUS 10G XG-C100F SFP+. I haven't installed it yet, but meanwhile, is there any required settings to use this card?
I will be using this machine mainly to edit videos on DaVinci Resolve 16 (I currently use a mac mini 2018 i7 with a Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse inside a Razer Core X) and in the guide for the Z390 Designare, there's a section called Going the Extra Mile and instructions to set headless platform ID 0x3E980003.
My question is, is this applicable to Catalina 10.15.7 as well?
Also, I read
@starchyfind 's post on the test he made using different models and I'm thinking of changing the model to iMacPro1,1 (current is iMac19,1). Can I just update the model without a complete install? And do I also need to update the platform ID to 0x3E980003 if using iMacPro1,1?
Finally, do I need to update Serial Number, Board Serial Number, and System UUID?
Thank you once again! I am so happy that everything worked so smoothly just by following this guide!
