Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi, cannot get installer to boot

Status
Not open for further replies.
Have the same board and currently stuck at "Initialized /dev/rdisk4 as a 5 MB case-insensitive HFS Plus volume"
Also, line above this says "Forcing CS_RUNTIME for entitlementL com.apple.rootless.installgetExceptionList: failed to open /priavate/var/db/SystemPolicyConfiguration/HardeiningExceptions.plistCreating RAM Disk for /var/log

I'm using internal MB gpu (still waiting for my Vega 64)

Any ideas?

Double check post #29 above in the quoted area.
  • OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000 instead of AptioMemoryFix
  • Remove EmuVariable
  • Check on the boot argument “slide=0”
  • For one-key wake from sleep, try darkwake=0
This is what got me booted initially. If this doesn't work, I suggest posting the 'required files' for requesting assistance. No one can offer any specific suggestions unless they can see what you currently have.
Also, In the beginning, I had to use iMac 18,1 SMB. Once I got more things working properly, I was able to change to a more appropriate SMB.

Creating a new thread specific to your build might also get you more visibility from the experienced people who can actually help best.

Good Hunting!

@HackinMax Thanks! It turned out that it had something to do with the USB port I was using. Used a different port and the issue is resolved

Hi i would like to share a way based on my friend's recent experience, i didn't try yet since my new parts yet arrived.

Prepare two bootusb, one Sierra 13, another Mojave 14,

Try install with Sierra 13 first, then update thru App Store to Mojave, then use Mojave bootdisk to boot again, then it'll work.

I will update a more detail steps next week when i have hands-on over mine, hope it helps.

Hey guys, thanks all for your contributions, unfortunately the Holidays got going, then work and catching up on stuff got going, so I haven't been able to give this project much time; but I wanted to post on here to update the thread and for anyone who may read it later.

As some of you may have figured, I actually returned the pro wifi, actually my friend (a Windows gamer) has it now. Durring the Christmas season I found the regular z390 pro at a better price, so I got that instead; I don't really need wifi, so no prob there.
I've also got an RX580 for GPU, to avoid Intel woes :) I had been waiting for NVIDIA drivers to get an rtx or 10 series, but got tired of waiting.

Anyway, from what some of you have posted here, and what I've read on other threads, using slide=0 and the special memfix EFI driver should do the trick. I hope to get hacking on this in a few days, but won't post here, since it would then be off topic (different board) unless I come across something that I think would help pro wifi owners as well.

Thanks again to all of you who offered tips, I did read through them all, and I'm sure they'll be useful on the sans wifi Aorus Pro.

O, one last thing...
If some of you are really struggling with the installer portion, one thing I did try and it worked was installing Mojave on a Z370 board (which I had purchased for testing). Once I got to the welcome/setup screen I powered down the rig and put the SSD back in the Z390 Pro WIFI, and the thing booted to the welcome screen with no problems! It worked fine after signing in and doing the post install setup... So if you can't get it to boot the installer, but you have access to another hack or machine that would let you install the files to the drive, you could give that a try, it should work... :)

Hi,
so what did you do in detail, just the USB port?
Or did you also change to the alternativ memory driver? What else?
I am facing the same issue.
Thanks

From what I can remember, I just used a different port. I may also have disconnected other drives (data drives from the computer)

OK, first off, since this is a potential system and not yet listed on my sig, here's the hardware I'm working with:
Mobo: Gigabyte z390 Aorus Pro Wifi (both original F5 BIOS and F6 latest BIOS gave same results)
CPU: i7 8700k
RAM: 32GB 2400 Crucial, 8GB/stick (tried with all slots populated and then just one, also tried moving the single stick to every slot, no change)
GPU: NVIDIA GT720 (also tried with the internal UHD630 when I removed all PC cards, still no change).

The problem? I can't get either installers (HS or Mojave) to boot. As soon as I select one, within 3 seconds the comp restarts or just freezes. I've played with various BIOS settings such as above 4g decoding, using XMP or not, disabling onboard devices, it still won't boot. I've reset CMOS and loaded optimized defaults various times just for extra measures. I'm using the 10.14.1 installer downloaded last week. I know the installer is fine, as I installed it on my probook and X99 systems without any issues.

I've also tried different AptioMemoryFix files:
When using AptioMemoryFix-64.efi it restarts with the last line being end random seed.
When using OsxAptioFix3Drv-64.efi it also restarts with end random seed being the last line, and sometimes it will stop but not restart with the error couldn't allocate runtime area.
With OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi, I get one of 2 errors at random: couldn't load kernel cache or couldn't allocate runtime area.
Finally, OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi doesn't make it too far, no matter what settings I change it just says stops at "OsxAptioFixDrv: allocaterelocblock(): cannot allocate relocation block(0x19941 pages below 0x100000000): not found".
I've tried a few other files I have in one of my x99 folders, such as OSXAptioFixFree2000 and a test2016 one, but those all restart at end random seed.

Does anybody have any workarounds or suggestions that would help me get the installer going? I've also tried 2 different clover versions, including the latest and I believe it was 4724 and 4700. Using safe mode or regular yields no change.

I read someone else has macOS running on a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro (same as this one but without wifi), but I haven't heard from them to see if they took any special steps to get it up and running.

The RAM is good, as I used it on another system, and the board runs Windows fine, so I don't think the board itself is bad; I'm running memtest though just to iliminate that possibility from the equation.

Are any of you guys that started hacking on Z390 using Gigabyte boards? If so, are you on latest BIOS/UEFI? Any settings that need to be set or changed? Any tweaks to the config.plist? Right now I have a minimal one with no fixes or patches enabled, using iMac18:3 SMBIOS.

I was thinking maybe the wifi card was causing issues? I couldn't find a way to disable it from BIOS, and I was going to remove it physically, but I don't want to do that (covered by the I/O shield and plastic cover), since I've got a day left to decide if I'll keep the board or not, which at this point, I might just try something else.
Hopefully someone can chime in before tomorrow afternoon (11/12), as I'll be going to my local Microcenter to exchange the board if I can't get it up and running by then, before the return window closes. I unfortunately have very little time left to make a choice, so if anyone has any suggestions, please fire away! :)

THX!
I pal did you get this board going I'm wanting it and no multibeast has some drivers?

I have just built up one with a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi. i7-8700K, RX580 with Samsung NMVe 970 1TB.
I followed Psedog's build instructions and it worked very well.

Hi, I no longer have the wifi model, but I do have the regular z390 pro. I got it to work. Only kext I used was fakeSMC in "other" folder, and the OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000 efi file in the UEFI drivers folder. Make sure you don't have osxmemoryfix or aptiomemoryfix or any other memory fix files in there.
Installation went fine for me.
Once you have installed, manually install needed kexts. In my case, I only installed appleALC for audio, lilu (required by appleALC and WhateverGreen), WhateverGreen (needed to play DRM content on my rx580), ethernet kext (I'm using IntelMausiEthernet). I've not done extensive testing yet, but so far everything is working fine, including sleep, shutdown/restart, and CMOS. I've still have to test NVRAM and such but haven't had time.
The key to getting all this working is to have a good clover config. Also, use a close SMBIOS definition that matches; I'm using iMac18:3.

To install your kexts after install, just copy them to the desktop, then run kextBeast (you can get it from downloads here), and it will install the kexts. Don't forget to also install fakeSMC to the kext. Install them all to Library/Extensions.

Your system may be different, especially since I'm using external GPU and not Intel graphics, I think some work has to be done to get that working, for sure start by using WhateverGreen. You may also want to read up on the Hackintool (formally fb patcher) to get any required injections done to get the Intel graphics going.

I don't think you'll be able to get the Intel WIFI working, perhaps the bluetooth portion may work. You may want to look on the laptop section of the forum for info on getting BT to work, you may need to use some of rehabman's tools for bluetooth injection, but I'm not sure; can't help there since mine doesn't have a WIFI card/adapter.

HTH :)
