GA-Z87X-UD5H - Mavericks - Most USB drives will not mount [SOLVED]
I discovered recently that my USB 2.0 memory card reader would not mount any cards. I thought something was wrong with the reader, but it worked fine on my MacBook Air. I quickly learned that none of my USB 2.0 drives were working. They show up in System Information but not in Disk Utility or Finder. My USB 3.0 drives mounted fine, so I thought the issue was specific to USB 2.0.
I tried reinstalling GenericUSBXHCI.kext, and I also tried this fix, but to no avail.
I ended up biting the bullet and buying a USB 3.0 card reader and flash drive to replace my USB 2.0 drives (once again thinking that it was an issue specific to USB 2.0) only to find that these new USB 3.0 drives would not work either.
If anyone could provide some assistance with this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Note: All drives have been tested and are working on my MacBook Air. I've also tried every USB port on my build, but I have the same problem with all of them. However, I have no issue mounting any of the Windows formatted drives to the Windows partition of my build.
