Hi Guys,

so my plan is to build the following:

CPU: Xeon 1231v3
Mainboard: Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1
GPU: GTX 960 (Zotac GeForce GTX 960 4GB or other 4GB Card)
Rest: 2x Sata SSDs and 1x HDD 1x Sata BluRay-Player

Has anybody build a rig with usb 3.1? Does it matter which Gtx 960 I'll use?
And what about a NVME SSD, does it work?

Thanks,

Toby

Very understated build. The motherboard is interesting and reasonably priced IMHO.

It also depends upon your expectations of USB3.1... what would you use with it?

Then the M.2 on the motherboard is not clearly specified; I wonder what width the link is?

The CPU that you have chosen is interesting if you can source it at a reasonable price.

I am not a fan of the 960 but to not know of any faults with it.

NVME technology SSDs may well be a big thing in the future as many companies have jumped on board but my knowledge is from the wiki so who knows?

I can share that M.2 on x4 PXIE buss is fast as evidenced by ASUS Maximus VII Impact and a Samsung XP941 boot drive on my current OS X workstation hack.

Anyway, if you go with these parts, please post a thread with your experience.

Good modding,
neil
