Hi there,

I am hoping to spend ~£2000 on a Hackintosh, and would just like to check with you guys if my Firewire PCI-e card will work with OS x Mavericks 10.9.1 and Dual boot Windows 8.1. Here's the potential spec:

Software:

· OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
· Windows 8.1

Hardware:

· CPU: Core i7 4770k 3.5GHz
· CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 (Water)
· Motherboard: GA-Z87X-UD5 TH (2 x Thunderbolt, Bluetooth & Wi-Fi)
· RAM: Corsair Vengance 32GB (4 x 8GB) 1600Mhz DDR3 Memory
· Case: Corsair Carbide 500R (2 x USB 3.0 front, 1 x Firewire port, 1 x Headphone, 1 x Microphone, 6 x HDD insert ports)
· Power Supply: Corsair TX650M Enthusiast Series 650W PSU
· SSD: 2 x SanDisk Extreme 120GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5in Solid Sate Drive (OS X Mavericks will have a 120GB Partition, Windows 8.1 will have a 120GB Partition)
· Storage Hard Drives: 2 x Seagate 2TB Hard Drive 6Gb-s 7200RPM
· Wi-Fi Card: TP-Link N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI-E Card
· Graphics Card: EVGA Nvidia GTX 760 Superclocked 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
· Firewire Card: Dynamode 3-Port PCI Express Firewire Card

I have posted this in the new build section to check if all the other parts are compatible and I have had a response that everything looks good apart from the firewire card. I am looking to put Logic Pro on it and run a couple of my Synths through FireWire. Is this viable? Anything I should be aware of with Logic & Hackintosh?

Many thanks in advance,

If you search the forums, you'll find that the Startech firewire cards have been used in successful builds. I haven't been able to order my hardware yet, but when I do I will let you know how the Startech one works out for me.

Ok great cheers
