Finally Works Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6850

Hi peeps. I have Ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 and gigabyte hd6850 but I'm a real noob can someone help me getting it to work I will appreciate it very very much

hey thanks for the headsup on duckweed. I had read bulrushes was the way to go but that was causing me ridiculous problems. I went to duckweed and now I have dual monitor (top DVI and DP) with only one problem. When I boot up initially the second monitor (DP port) is all kinds of distorted. Once I sign in to my account I simply unplug it and plug it back in and everything is solved. However it boots like this EVERY time. Any ideas on why its all distored?

Do you "have" to use duckweed or bulrushes? What if you just run plain GE=yes? I haven't tried DVD or chess. Will they crash? Flash video and iTunes movies work great.

I need to DL cenibench and see what works best.

UPDATE: I ran Cenibench and got 49.something FPS & 5.21pts. This is with my CPU on stock clocks and GE=yes, and NO other changes. My profile is iMac 12.2. I will try some other configs and see if anything changes. (overclocking my CPU to 4.5ghz got me 56.24fps & 6.49pts).

I have the same Gigabyte Radeon 6850 installed on a Z68A-D3H-B3 board. System Profiler shows that it's an 8 lane card, yet it's installed in the 16 lane slot. Performance is similar to that which others have reported in this thread.

Any idea as to why System Profiler shows it as being in an 8 lane slot?

I can use upper DVI and HDMI.
DP is not working with my both adapters. What can it bee?

I discovered a little earlier today that the Firewire card that is in the adjacent slot is apparently causing System Profiler to see the GPU as an 8 lane device. Removing the Firewire card returns to 16 lanes. Oddly, the GPU's performance is unchanged, so I reinstalled the Firewire card and all's well.

I don't use DP because i never have had such a Monitor. So i'm not able to verify your issue, sorry.

DP should work with default framebuffer, it does with mine.
I go dual monitors with DVI / DP
