Chimera 1.5.1 is now available and adds the following cards:

ATI Radeon HD 6750 1458:220E Vervet
ATI Radeon HD 6670 1682:3181 Bulrushes
ATI Radeon HD 6670 1682:3183 Bulrushes

Also changed the default frame buffer for all HD 6670 and HD 6450 cards from Null to Bulrushes.

If anything is incorrect or any other cards are missing, please post the info here so that I can update.

Has anyone successfully made the HD 6750 work under Lion ?

I could get the Gigabyte HD6750 Silent working the trick was that you still have to add your card's HW ID (i.e. 1002:68bf) to ATI5000Controller.kext because only that driver contains the Vervet frame buffer.

However still no audio via HDMI and QE doesn't seem to work either, hence DVD player crashes and also no picture with VLC or Youtube.

Could some one get these working? I am also ineterested about results with the HD 5750 card? Thx.

Any updates about HD 6750? It won't work with full support?

I too am still having troubles getting my HD 6850 to load Framebuffers. GraphicsEnabler=Yes in boot.plist. Went thru all the different Framebuffers using AtiConfig=xxxx -v. Here are the codes:

Code:

Edit...Using Chimera 1.5.4

GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3
AMD Radeon HD 6850
Intel Core i5-2500K
8Gig RAM
Exact same issue with my 6870 (frame buffer loads in chimera according to bdmesg, but doesn't show with ioreg) Still have no clue how to fix it...

Any updates about HD 6750? It won't work with full support?

Until Apple supports this GPU it will not be supported OOB.

It might work if you add it's device ID to the ATI kexts.

I too am still having troubles getting my HD 6850 to load Framebuffers. GraphicsEnabler=Yes in boot.plist. Went thru all the different Framebuffers using AtiConfig=xxxx -v.

Solved. Did a complete reinstall of Snow Leopard (10.6.8) using Multibeast 3.9, and DSDT for my MB. The graphics card is now being properly identified.

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

@notshy - Thank you for adding my card information (from lspci) to the ati.c file. However, the default framebuffers are still loading as when I checked ioreg. I made sure I had the latest release of Chimera and rebooted again. Here is the output from ioreg:
Code:
# ioreg | grep ATY
    | | | | +-o ATY,ATY,RadeonFramebuffer@0 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000302, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (159 ms), retain 7>
    | | | | | +-o ATY_ATY,RadeonFramebuffer <class ATIFramebuffer, id 0x10000030f, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (102 ms), retai$
    | | | | +-o ATY,ATY,RadeonFramebuffer@1 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000303, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (8 ms), retain 7>
    | | | | | +-o ATY_ATY,RadeonFramebuffer <class ATIFramebuffer, id 0x100000315, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (6 ms), retain $

I then also captured the printout of bdmesg when the drivers and framebuffers are loaded. The output doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe it will for you:
Code:

I am not using a DSDT as I don't think I have one for my motherboard but this is something I'm going to investigate. Perhaps it might help the problem.

Code:

The reason the default frame buffer is being used is due to you using an unsupported card. The ONLY HD 4800 that Apple supports out of the box is the HD 4870. Anything else requires patching of the drivers to add the device id and then there is no guarantees that it will work.

You would be better off upgrading to a card that is supported OOB.

Mobile graphics is a completely different animal to PCI cards. We are focusing on desktop builds at the moment.

Hi guys!

First of all wanne give a big THANKS! that you helped me so much already with all your reply`s.

Can you give my some help to get me to the finish line.

i photograped everything. My Safari gets :beachball: stuck, so had to be inventive.

My system specifications:
Mobo : P5QDL- PRO
Ram : 8 GB Kingstons 800 MHZ
Videocard : XFX Radeon 6870 (ZDFC) 1002:6739. 1682:3103

So i have tried everything! From trying typing all the frambuffers, Looking in to the kexts.
But nothing helps.

So after when there are no kexts everything works till so far.

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

It seems that either one of the options Aticonfig=Ipomoea or Mangabey or Juncus just enables the graphic portion of this update in Chimera. I don't know what the difference is, apart from the fact the they have different ConnectorInfo. My card has 3 ports I guess. At least there are 3 ports to the backof it.
Ipomoea (which is probably the one I should be using?) enables another port (VGA display) that I am not using. When I went to check how many displays there were, it showed 2. There was a VGA display too. I had my dock to the right and I lost it because of it. So now I am using Mangabey.

My card is Sapphire 1Gb 6670 with those specs:
Vendor:0x1002
DeviceID:0x6758
Subsystem:174b:e194

  • 1. The card's link to the website is: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentatio ... id=1&leg=0
    2. lspci gives me these results
    Code:
sudo lspci -nnvd 0x1002: | grep -B2 Subsystem
    Password:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device [1002:6758] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: PC Partner Limited Unknown device [174b:e194]
    --
01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device [1002:aa90]
Subsystem: PC Partner Limited Unknown device [174b:aa90]
    3. I have uploaded a dump from IOregistry
    4. and a screenshot from System Profiler
    5. Finally, I have one monitor/TV(Samsung UE32D6530) connected to the HDMI port.
