Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

Hi!!, sorry for my english, I'm from Spain.
At first time thanks for this post, now i have mi "snow leopard 10.6.6" running at 80%.

I have a Ati Shappire HD3850 512mb DDR3 PCI-E http://www.appinformatica.com/tarjetas-graficas-vga-pcie-ati-hd-3850-512mb-sapphire.php with a Asus P5KPL motherboard.
I follow the next steps:
First I installed all aplications (multibeast with chimera, etc.), next, at S/L/E, on Ati3800Controller.kext I put the ID "1002 9505" of my card and I reboot, It don't start.
Well, I reboot in safe mode and I deleted all AtiRadeonX2000.kext (it have the id of my graphic card inside), I reboot and
I'm very happy, now I have the two outs of my graphic card running and it recognised my monitors. But, I have a small problem, at "hardware/graphics/displays don't show the "Ati HD3850", show the generic "HD3800 controller". Ok it's not problem for me, the really problem is that I tested the QE/CI adding a widget and it don't make the effect. I test another test with playing a movie on VLC player but, I have sound only.
Any help for me??

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

A question, often is it necessary to delete the file AtiRadeonx2000 to run the graphics card?, Or should work with the AtiRadeonx2000 + Ati3800Controller?
I don't have any ATY_init or similar kext, I only have the original kext from SL 10.6.8 for make it run but I added the ID in Ati3800Controller and I deleted the AtiRadeonx2000...

:?:

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

notshy you helped me a lot
the problem is when i use ATiConfig to Hoolock my ati 5450 get qe/cl and right frame buffer but the resolution is 1280x768 although my display resolution is 1366x768

Framebuffer @0xE0000000 MMIO @0xFBDC0000 I/O Port @0x0000EE00 ROM Addr @0x00000000
ATI card POSTed, reading VBIOS from legacy space
Framebuffer set to: Hoolock using AtiConfig=Hoolock
Number of ports set to: 3 using framebuffer's default.
ATI Cedar ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB (Hoolock) [1002:68f9] (subsys [1787:2291]):: PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

ioreg | grep ATY
| | | | +-o ATY,Hoolock@0 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000224, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (106 ms), retain 7>
| | | | | +-o ATY_Hoolock <class ATIFramebuffer, id 0x100000249, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (25 ms), retain 16>
| | | | +-o ATY,Hoolock@1 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000225, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (4 ms), retain 7>
| | | | | +-o ATY_Hoolock <class ATIFramebuffer, id 0x100000269, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (3 ms), retain 13>
| | | | +-o ATY,Hoolock@2 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000226, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (3 ms), retain 7>
| | | | | +-o ATY_Hoolock <class ATIFramebuffer, id 0x10000026f, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (3 ms), retain 13>

i tried all other ati configs and set graphics mode to 1366x768 with no success
the same problem the resolution is not right, so what i can do to get my display 1366x768 :?: :?:

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (8-Sept)

Ok im tired:( i dont knw what im doing wrong.

My card a HD 5570 is detected as ATI Radeon HD 5000 in the system profiler. Device ID is there in the ATI5000Controller.kext file. I tried all the framebuffers of which 2 of them crashed. geekbench works..chess works...dvd player - Nope! Its also crashing Ableton live.
Did i miss something? Please help.

Edit: im running 10.6.8. Easybeast.

I guess your DVD Player doesn't work because QE/CI is not enabled properly. Please check using "ioreg | grep ATI" command that ATIRadeonX3000.kext is bound to your card?

System Profiler :-

Everything looks fine, but as far as I can see for some reason you get the standard ATI frame buffer loaded and that doesn't support QE/CI. Do you have GE=yes in your configuration?
