Hi fellow builders and modders! :headbang:

I've browsed this forum for a little while now and decided to just make a post.

So as the title already suggests, I'm building my very first Hackintosh and could use all the help I can get.
I absolutely have no experience with Hackintosh and would like a system that runs exactly what I need, which is stated in the list below (Thanks to CaseySJ for that summary by the way.)

Summary what needs to work:
  • Shutdown / restart
  • Sleep / Wake
  • iCloud / App Store
  • Handoff / Continuity / Unlock with Apple Watch
  • FaceTime / Messages
  • WiFi / Bluetooth
  • Ethernet port
  • Quick Look / Preview
  • tv / Music
  • Netflix and Prime Video in Safari
  • Thunderbolt 3, or if possible 4
  • Monterey, and support for Ventura
What I didn't know before, but very aware of now is that Monterey doesn't support Intel's UHD 770. So I can already say goodbye to using my 12900K for this build. :(

Here's a list of what I was going to use:
  • Intel Core i9-12900K (CPU)
  • Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Master (MOBO)
  • Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5600Mhz 64GB 4X16GB (RAM)
  • NZXT Kraken X 360MM AIO (COOLER)
  • AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black FE (GPU)
  • Noctua NF-A12 (FANS)
  • DeepCool DQ 850-M-V2L 850W (PSU)
  • Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge (TB PCI-E)
  • WD Black SN-850 NVMe 2B (SSD)
But now I know it won't be possible, not if I want everything to work.
So here's what I need your help with, I've been searching for another motherboard and CPU and stumbled across the NZXT N7 Z590 and either the 10900K or the 11900K. Would this board be a great choice?

I know the 10900K has 10-cores and the 11900K only 8-cores, but the fact that the 11900K is newer and enables lanes for Gen.4 makes me want the 11900K above it. What's your advice to have a perfectly working system?

Sorry for the stupid questions.
Thanks in advance!

Check to make sure, I think the 11th gen also has UHD770 or something similar to twelfth gen. Whatever it is, it's also not supported by macOS.

Just checked, it has indeed Intel UHD 750 and is not supported. Ouch!

So now I'm kind of forced to go with the 10900K, right?

Please check in with me if this configuration will fit my needs and work perfectly, because I don't want to buy parts I can't use for the second time around, lol.
  • Intel Core i9-10900K (CPU)
  • NZXT N7 Z590 Black Edition (MOBO)
  • Kingston Fury Renegade DDR4 3600Mhz 64GB 4X16GB (RAM)

Next thing to check. Does the UHD630 iGPU work when paired with an 11th gen board ? (Z590)
If you pair the i9 with a tenth gen Intel board you can be 100% sure that it will be supported.

Will you run the iGPU headless or use it to power a display ?

Hi there!

Looks like your system should work no problem. Check out the Z690 threads on the site.

Z690, Z590 & Z490 all should work with macOS no problem, the last two can be achieved with CPU & IGEU spoofing. Only concern for Z690 is if your Alder Lake chip has a square Intel mark. If it is the old oval shape it means it has AVX-512 needed for macOS activation.

Haven’t opened the box yet so I have no idea, I’ll have to check that. Thanks for the info

With everything working perfectly?

I honestly have no clue.

Someone told me I need the iGPU to work in order to have the sleep / wake function to work perfectly.

By the way, this is the case I'm using, it's a very close replica but made to fit PC components.
