After many tries, this is finally working for me.

I have the XFX 6870 and could not load the framebuffer. Do note, i'm running Lion.

Added this to the com.apple.boot.plist:

string>arch=x86_64</string>
<key>PCIRootUID</key>
<string>1</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>AtiConfig</key>
<string>Duckweed</string>

And now DVD and everything else is working.

Now, all i need is to find a way to enable sleep.

Are you saying that all ports now work AND all software and functionality regarding DVD player, Steam, App Store, etc? Is the card properly identified as a 6870? If this is true, is there any reason to believe this wouldn't work with the gigabyte 6870?

Hello tomhukk,

I only have one monitor and is using the DVI port.
So far, DVD player and Starcraft II works ok.

Haven't tried the app store yet.

The card is indeed properly identified as a ATI Radeon 6870.

I don't know if the framebuffer "Duckweed" works with your card.

When i get home, i will try the app store and get a screenshot.

Stupid question, but I can't find the answer... how do I specify multiple boot options at boot? Comma seperated? semi-colon?

PCIRootUID=1, GraphicsEnabler=Yes, AtiConfig=Duckweed

I want to test before adding these to my boot.plist

Thanks in advance

Here is the screenshot with DVD, App store and system info open.

Brendo234:

At the Chimera bootloader, press any key, i prefer to use the arrow keys and input these commands. I'm not sure is the order matters, but i think that capitalization does matter, to be safe, type it like this:
PCIRootUID=1, GraphicsEnabler=Yes, AtiConfig=Duckweed and press enter.

Not sure if the space after the comma is needed, but in worse case, try it with and without.

Sorry for the vagueness, but i'm a noob at this.

When I type PCIRootUID=1 in iBoot the screen goes black just before it reaches the desktop. I then have to unplug the monitor from my DVI port and plug it in again to get my screen back. Any idea why my screen goes black?

The thing is, my card then displays correctly and when I type ioreg | grep ATY in Terminal my frame buffer displays as Duckweed (something like that).

So I figured let's boot in with AtiConfig=Duckweed but this makes no difference, the card still displays as HD NI40, and in Terminal it is stil Radeonframebuffer and not Duckweed.

Don't know why the command is not working from iBoot but I will insert it into my com.apple.boot.plist and then try again . . . Oh, yeah got my ethernet to work last night so this is my first post from my Hackintosh!! :headbang:

Thanks grtitan!!!

This worked for me! I have the Sapphire Radeon HD 6870. The only thing is that it made my bootup time much slower :problem: But no more black screen of death!

You are welcome!
Glad that it worked for you. Not sure why is taking longer to boot, maybe Noshy can provide more info. Or maybe you should try another frambuffer.

Here is the complete list:

Pithecia
Bulrushes
Cattail
Hydrilla
Duckweed
Fanwort
Elodea
Kudzu
Gibba
Lotus
Ipomoea

Hi Grtitan,

I've been following your posts for a while since I also have the same video card as you. Are you successfully running QE/CI now? Thanks!

Hello mekilla,

See my previous post with the screen shot, you can see that QE/CI is working.

Now, i do have one issue, Starcraft 2 is kind of choppy, but it looks like this is also affecting real macs.
Also, Xbench starts ok, but never finishes, again, not sure if is Lion or what.

If your motherboard has more than one PCIE x16 slot, you can also try PCIRootUID=0.
