I encountered this problem too :
There are too many ports as you saw :
On Rear Panel I/O only :
- 2 x USB 2.0 Ports
- 2 x (1+1) x USB 3.2 Gen1 Ports (2 ports each divided into two)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Thunderbolt Type-C Ports
All other ports are internal :
- 2 x USB 2.0 Headers (Support 4 USB 2.0 ports)
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Header
- 1 x Front Panel Type C (ASMedia ASM3142)
I tested all USB-A Port, none of them work !!!
I've Just tested the USB-C (thunderbolt) port none work

Yes but even without it, some ports should work, no?A suitable USB kext can therefore solve the problem
