depending whether you want it connect internally or externally. For me (external), just cut off any usb cable from your old stuff and hook the 4 wires together (see previous post for wiring scheme)

Does it work pretty well internally or does it need some clear line of sight to work?

Thanks for the help everyone! One last question. If I were to use this IR reciever. Is there a program equivalent to eventghost on Mac? Basically something I can use to program commands for different programs through my logitech harmony One remote. Thanks.

Hi:
I have an apple IR model no. 820-1935A pulled from an iMac 17" Early 2006.
It has the followings wires:
Pin 1: Brown (mark with > in board)
Pin 2: Grey
Pin 3: Purple
Pin 4: Black
I suppose that Pin 4 Black is ground.
But the others
Anybody has experience with this IR?

Any idea? :(

I answer to myself.
This is the pin out (for Apple IR from iMac G5 and Early/Late 2006)
Pin 1: Brown (D-)
Pin 2: Gray (D+)
Pin 3: Purple (+5V)
Pin 4: Black (GND)

And this is the result connected to an Apple keyboard:

Recognized perfectly in leopard  (it's an iMac G5):
