I have successfully had 3 monitors running at the same time, 2 x mini displayport and 1 x DVI and it worked perfectly.

I haven't tried using mdp>dvi adapters as I have had no need to. I just now use GE= yes and don't inject Hoolock either as it loads automatically. Everything works great.

Still no luck here but I've done everything you have I think.

My monitors are all DVI, but I just bought Apple brand mdp->dvi adapters just in case the Dynex adapters I had weren't 100%. I'm currently stuck with two monitors max - even at bios and booting only two power up and get signal.

Just to confirm, are you using the ATI 1.6.34.13 drivers and Chimera 1.4.1 r877? Any other thoughts on my setup that may be screwing it up?

I'm using the ATI drivers and Chimera that is in Muiltbeast 3.7.2 (not at that computer at the moment to check exact version)

At boot only the 2 monitors connected to the mdp show the BIOS screens, the monitor connected to DVI doesn't switch on until the desktop loads.

If I remember correctly ATI eyefinity 3 (which running 3 monitors off a 5770 basically is) requires at least one of the monitors to be connected via dp/mdp or if all the monitors are DVI, one of the DVI monitors needs to be connected via a active mdp adapter (the apple adapter is passive). I think I read somewhere that the graphics chip can only generate 2 clock signals and each DVI connection requires a discreet clock signal where as mdp doesnt require said clock signal. The active adapter amongst other things takes care of generating the required clock signal (I may be wrong on this, but I'm sure my research on ATI eyefinity sometime ago revealed this information)

So the answer may be to add an active mdp adapter into the mix

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I think you are absolutely right! I just ordered a Sapphire active mdp>dvi adapter from newegg. If this works, I'll be able to switch over to this rig as my full time system.. can't wait! :)

No sleep issues, DVD player issues, etc?

Will 2x MDP to DVI adapters work? Or I need 2 sets of Active adapters for that?

Sleep and DVD are fine.

As for the adapter combination you suggest, I don't know. I really would only strongly suggest this card to someone who wants to run 2 x mdp monitors or someone who wants to run three monitors.

If I was about to buy a card I'd look at a reference design 6870, but it really depends on what you need.

So for those of you who are looking to connect three DVI monitors like me, with this option, you may have to get two active display port -> DVI adapters.

Apple's site says two of their DVI-DL adapters, since those are the only ones they offer ( see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4279 ). I purchased ONE active adapter and it was not sufficient. With only one active adapter, I could connect the following:

One 30" DL-DVI
One 24" via a Sapphire Active DP ->DVI - here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814999034
One 20" via Apple DP->VGA adapter (passive edit: apple claims this is also an 'active' adapter).

I believe to get the third monitor connected via DVI and not VGA, I would need to buy another active adapter. But this appears to be working, and survives a reboot.

Will continue to report on my findings as they come..

That's a good link that really shows its not a hackintosh issues but a fundamental hardware requirement.

Ok, verified my theory - you need two active adapters with this card (not one). I purchased one of the ATI certified active adapters as my second one. This is probably the better way to go than getting the Sapphire adapter I linked before.

Accell B087B-006B: http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-006B ... 004071ZXA/

Now running three DVI monitors, two of them using active adapters, the third is a 30" dual link DVI connected directly to the DVI port. Hope this helps someone in the same boat.

Here is a list of other certified active adapters, I recommend purchasing from this list: http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pag ... ngles.aspx
