I'm trying to install the updated FakeSMC kexts and Network kexts.
I open Multibeast and I select the appropriate kexts (FakeSMC, Realtek8111).
I go to Build, Choose the correct drive, Select Install.
The installation is 'successful'.

However, when I go to /System/Extensions/Library to verify the updated kexts, there seems to be no evidence of updated kexts.

The FakeSMC kext is supposed to updated to 6.18.1394 but my kext still identifies as 6.9.1315
The Realtek8111 kext is supposed to update to 2.0.0 but my kext still identifies as 1.2.3

Am I missing something here?

Did you read the description for the kexts you installed?

If you had, you would have read that MultiBeast 8.x and later installs kexts in /Library/Extensions.

Wow, thank you.
I can't believe I missed that.
I distinctly even remember reading the description. I must've just glazed over the paths.

I'm used to manually installing kexts and building my own OS X Installers and always used to install them in S/E/L
Never heard of installing kexts in these locations, are there any advantages / disadvantages to these locations?

Apple recommended as of 10.10 that third party kexts be installed in /Library/Extensions and 10.11 is enforcing this.

Oh okay!
That explains a lot. I jumped from 10.8.5 to 10.11.3 so this is quite new to me haha.

Thank you :)
