Hey everybody! I just built my very first Hackinotsh, using a 4930k, Sabertooth X79, and GTX 970 G1 model. Currently OC to 4.6 and my GB scores are 22819. Its fully stable, and the only thing I have yet to get working is HDMI audio. When I bought these parts, I didn't know there was a X99 and a 5930k.

My question is should I return my 4930k and Sabertooth x79 for a 5930k and Rampage 5 Extreme? I would only have to switch out those components and my system would be slightly faster but newer.

Is there even hackintosh support for X99? Is it stable? Hard to install?

Should I just stay with what I have now?

Thanks everybody.

My choice would be to stay with what is already working instead of taking on all the
problems / troubleshooting involved with an X99 build. It may become simpler in
the next year or so but there is no timetable for when Apple will refresh the Mac Pro.

If what you've got now can do everything you need it to I would stay put. If you've got the extra
time and money to jump to the newer hardware and rebuild, reinstall that's not a bad choice either
just know ahead what you'll need to succeed.

Hey erod998,

I have the exact same build as you for my 2nd hack. Sabertooth X79, GTX 970, intel 4930k. I'm wondering what you used for your install. Did you use UniBeast or Clover? I was hoping to use Clover, but I'm having trouble finding a clover guide for the sabertooth X79. What I've pieced together from the Shilohh guide and a few other places I've googled doesn't seem to cut it.

What guides did you use for install and subsequently OC? (Although it's more important to me to get a stable base build before OC)

I was using Shilohhs Rampage IV Extreme guide below, but I was having trouble getting Clover to work after the install:

I believe my next step is to give up on Clover and return to a Unibeast/Chimera bootloader install, but I wanted to know if you used another guide than the one below which I was planning on implementing:

Any insight would be much appreciated and very helpful.
