Hi @jackharvest & @RehabMan,

Tx for sharing your input here.

My E5-575-51BZ has just arrived today and I'm looking forward to making mine work. Will see if i can get 100% like @jackharvest

Technical specs for this machine is here: http://snlookup.com/acer-aspire-e5-575-notebook-nx-ge7ea-006/

I'm curious though. It is not clear how you created the installer and if you made any additional changes to the clover config before installing it:

  • I'm also not sure if you have made additional bios changes. My machine does not have the GeForce 940MX. Instead it has integrate graphics HD 620. So, I'm not sure if I need to make any changes in bios setup. @jackharvest : Anything i need to be aware off ? Did you set your DVMT-prealloc to 64mb or larger ?
  • @jackharvest : when you ran your install first time did you add any dsdt's ?
Thanks

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html

Although you should read the FAQ for an overview of issues, the Clover guide is linked from the first question: "Q. Where do I start?", just after the bold face "Clover Guide".
Here is a direct link, just to be clear:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

Also, your profile must be filled out with complete details as requested in the FAQ, again under "Q. Where do I start?". All seven details requested are equally important.

And if you have an issue (after following the guide), or on any other problem, you must provide a detailed description of the problem including information that helps us understand what you're doing. Always attach "Problem Reporting" files as per FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html
The required files and data are fully detailed in the last question in the FAQ:
"Q. What are typical "Problem Reporting" files?"

Hi @RehabMan,

I would have thought that by now I'm done with this machine. It turns out the bios (InsydeH20 utility Rev 5.0) advanced menu is is completely hidden. I cannot access it.

I have tried FN+TAB 3x but it did not work.

@jackharvest , what did you do to access this ?

Guys, I'm stucked. Could someone please help ???

Tx for helping me @RehabMan,

I need all the help I can get.

Ok I have prepared the USB installer your way using this link : https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

4 Challenges:

1. Booting the USB give an "PXE-M0F" error. See "Boot USB.jpg", That was resolved see point 2.

3. Using Legacy boot, I disabled network boot under the "Main menu", and made the network boot last in the Main menu. This then avoided the PXE-E61" error. Upon select the USB to boot I now get an error "no bootable device -- insert disk and press any key" I tried USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports but all the same.

3. The system does not pick up any USB drives when using UEFI boot mode. I tested the USB booting of another machine and it does work. I'm not sure how to build a USB installer for legacy boot mode. A bit confusing to me.

4. In the "Bios settings" section you have listed in your guide there is a number of settings that I need to change. I don't find any on this machine. See attached images. I figured at minimum I need to set VT-D, DEP, CSM, Fastboot, secure boot. These setting I should be able to find in the Advance menu tab of the bios. Mine does not have it. It is HIDDEN !!!!

It is crazy. Like you buy a Ferrari, only when they delivered it and you fired it up, you find the engine is in Beatle mode and the manufacturers won't tell you where the rocket switch is (advanced) !!!! Nice hey

Your profile/signature has no laptop hardware details.
Please fix as per FAQ.

Hi @RehabMan,

You have been diligently assisting me and I deeply appreciate your effort as well as tony's.

See post #68.

In trying to correct my profile last night around 11:30 pm, I may have posted once to many. It turns out that I have unknowingly violated a rule and I'm sorry this effort of mine is going to have to wait for another month :crazy::crazy:

Unless tonymacx86 is willing to give this 50+ year old dad a fathers day pass  ?

By the way my son thinks this is hilarious, I feel like a fool

For those wondering why the alias name. We are a great fan of rugby and we have a local team "The sharks" playing in the super 15. It is definitely not a reflection on Tonymac. We admire the work and guidance.

Best regards
:banghead:

No need to use signature with a single laptop.
As per FAQ all required data can go into the three profile fields (Mobo, CPU, Graphics).
There are limitations on signature (so if ever you do use it, don't go crazy with specs).
