Upgrading my workstation to 9900 advice

Cool, I feel like I've seen people have issues with getting into bios with video cards but maybe that was something else. So I'll do the clover path, boot into bios upgrade and redo settings and then install the new cpu. I guess I wouldn't boot into OS after the bios stuff ya? Also going to do...

Upgrading my workstation to 9900 advice

Oh man, that's good to know. I suspect I can't upgrade the bios using my gtx 1070 right? I don't think I've upgraded bios's before. So the order will be- upgrade bios, boot in normally, do clover patch and then swap cpus?

Upgrading my workstation to 9900 advice

So get new chip and all should be well? Sounds like best case scenario :) Would love to crank up the ghz so I'm considering one of those delidded cpus from the link but I don't know how reliable they are.

Upgrading my workstation to 9900 advice

Starting to feel like I've gotten all I could get out of my 8700k and am ready to move up. My dilemma has been that I'm limited to High Sierra due to Nvidia cutting off support. So I'm planning to get a new mb and 9900k chip and OC it to 5ghz. Is it better to get a chip and do it myself or would...

Oh interesting.. How do I know if mine isn't running right? The web driver seems to be working

    Sluggish performance on i7-8700k w/ 32gb ram

Thats good.. mine might not be as bad as it seems. I just copied and pasted everything out of dpcimanager to the attached file (txt file is in zip)

    Sluggish performance on i7-8700k w/ 32gb ram

Mine is 6015 and multi 27840 tho was 31k when I had the overclock (overheating scared me back to regular settings). I suppose the sluggish performance is attributed to lagging in my creative cloud programs when I'm trying to multi task. Render times aren't much faster in after effects either...

    Sluggish performance on i7-8700k w/ 32gb ram

So aside from one crash, my upgraded build has been working well but not particularly at optimal levels. My geekbench score is higher than when I was running i7-7700k but After Effects and general multitasking seem sluggish. Really not sure where to begin how to address things. My DCPIManager...

    Overheating during rendering - asus maximus x z370 + MasterLiquid Pro 240

Doesn't seem to be possible to do that.. Unless I was using just a gpu renderer, I think. Really starting to wonder if it's a thermal paste or attachment issue. I had the relidded the cpu but didn't complete the build for a few weeks so it was just sitting there.

    Overheating during rendering - asus maximus x z370 + MasterLiquid Pro 240

Ya, but I'd rather not push it to the limit :)

    Overheating during rendering - asus maximus x z370 + MasterLiquid Pro 240

I had delidded my cpu and used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Grease Paste when I relidded inside and outside for connecting to the cooler. The machine runs stable with cores fluctuating between 35ºc and 43ºc but when I try to render, especially in Cinema 4d, it starts to hit 80º and 90º...

Upgraded to z370 & 8700k but not seeing performance increase

Think I jumped the gun on the performance issue thing. I did the test right after completing my build. I had a weird feeling about something being off and opened up hwmonitor. Overheating alert! Turns out the random cable I had leftover after my hardware upgrade was the freaking connector for...

No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio

That seemed to do the trick! Attaching updated files just in case you see something amiss. Thanks!

No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio

    1. No audio devices after running multibeast installer after a motherboard and cpu upgrade. Possible cause was doing the process backwards by installing alc 1220 first, rebooting then doing 100/200/300 series + 200/z370 series audio device id patch. 2. 10.13.4 / ROG Maximus X z370 / bios 1003...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 (387.10.10.10.35)

Can't seem to load NVRAM through MultiBeast because it cannot find the apfs.efi file since I'm using hfs. Any ideas how to work around that? *Nevermind.. Seems to have installed now when I did a bundle install with audio drivers.

Upgraded to z370 & 8700k but not seeing performance increase

Oh that’s good to know. Planning to overclock to 5ghz so I’m sure that’ll help.

Upgraded to z370 & 8700k but not seeing performance increase

Just did my hardware swap and though ran into some issues like not having the cooler connected, I seem to have things in working order though some other things seem a little buggy (will come back to those later). My first concern though is that I don't have the right smbios or maybe its not the...

Update Directly to macOS High Sierra

Damn.. I might've needed to do that. Had to go back to my carbon copy of sierra.

Stuck on Clover Boot Screen When Trying to Update Directly to High Sierra

So I booted in verbose but also added a stop reboot argument to see what would happen. First it got stuck on HID: Legacy shim 2 but then it moved on and it looks like there's issues with lulu kext fail and the apfs. I wonder if I didn't have the right kexts in the right folders when I started...
