Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

I can confirm it was the mobo. I replaced the mobo and all of the other components work. Something about that update bricked my mobo.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

The mobo's RGB lights light up. I highly doubt it's the PSU. It literally happened during the update from 14.1.1 to 14.1.2. I was sitting at the computer watching the update. The update caused a restart and it never turned back on.

Interesting. That would probably fix it, but I don't know how to solder.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

Yeah, ASUS mobos have that capability as well, either with a USB or disc. I wasn't able to get it to work.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

Thanks. It doesn’t seem to affect all hackintosh updates. I’ve also seen posts from real Mac users saying their computer bricked during the update as well. I figured I’d post as a warning that it is possible. Seems rare though.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

When I was looking into the issue, I saw a lot of posts of real macs bricking when updating. I’m not sure it’s only a hackintosh thing.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

I found a few other instances of a macOS update bricking mobos, but not my particular one or 14.1.2. Seems maybe random? It was definitely the macOS update that caused it. I was sitting at the computer when it happened. It went to restart as part of the update and then just nothing.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

That was the first thing I did, but it didn’t change anything. It’s so weird.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

I’ve mostly tried that. But I can remove everything and try again. Think I should keep the CPU installed? Thanks for the response.

Be careful Sonoma 14.1.2 update bricked my ASUS motherboard

I didn't even think this was possible from an OS update, but I was updating from 14.1.1 to 14.1.2 and it seems to have bricked my mobo. My mobo is the ASUS TUF GAMING Z390M-PRO WIFI mATX. My install was a current vanilla OpenCore version on a super stable desktop. I've tried everything I can...

On my hack I can play audio through airplay in the music app, but it isn't an output option for my...

How to Install OS X Mavericks using Clover

Hi everybody :D It took some doing but I was able to switch my dual boot (Mavericks and Windows 7) to UEFI and Clover. OS X 10.9.2 Update

App store update seems to be working great on my Q77M-D2H system. Had to adjust my display settings but nbd (GTX 650 w/OS X drivers). Updated audio and TRIM with multibeast as suggested. My mute button works! I've been hoping this would be fixed, when did this become functional??
