Nice! Will try it. Thanks again!
Edit: I can confirm that this method works! Just don't forget to rebuild the cache:
Type in Terminal:
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
Took the step yesterday and installed Yosemite on an old HDD. Works fine except USB 3.0. Going to try the things listed earlier in the thread and see if it helps. No iMessage either of course, and haven't tried hdmi audio either.
One strange thing is that upon booting, I first get this screen...
Great. I most certainly will, thank you!
That looks neat! Installed Yosemite on an old HDD i had laying around just to try, works very well so far. Will soon order a SSD I think.
Thank you for your time.
No, maybe I was unclear. I meant that i want to have two partitions on my non-boot drive (which i know works). One for storage and one that contains a backup of a working OS X installation. My questions is if it is possible to change to the backup if the main SSD for...
SOLVED One partition for backup, one for storage. Would it work?
Hello guys!
I got a question about partitioning my current hdd. I'm currently running Mavericks on a regular 1tb hdd. Lately I've been thinking about getting a ssd and install Yosemite on it.
I want to split my current...
I'm sticking with Mavericks as for now. It just doesn't seem to be worth the effort to me. I'm currently running an almost 100% working hackintosh, with an Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse that works flawless. The only problem is iMessage which stopped working this summer, but I can live with...
I'm actually considering to stay on Mavericks as for now. It looks to me like there is in general more problem with this update than the previous ones, and I don't know if the updates considering new functions are worth the headache.
I got an old hdd lying around somewhere tho, maybe I will...
thank you for the tip. That sure doesn't look good.

Shouldn't step four in this "How to update from mavericks" guide take care of the "can't find mach kernel" issue?
Oh I'm sorry to here that. I'm currently waiting too see if it goes well for others haha.. I guess i'm a little scared for destroying my currently working hackintosh. Running Mavericks as for now :)
hello! I'm also using the GA-Z77N wifi motherboard. I don't have a trackpad but i'm currently using the apple wireless keyboard with the built in bluetooth in the motherboard. Why do use an adapter? I'm thinking about getting a trackpad but if it doesn't work I might stick with a mouse.
hello and thank you for the answer. I tried it but didn't make any difference.. It's very strange. Maybe it's a server problem? Because the computer works fine otherwise
