I moved from Clover to OpenCore on my Z370 yesterday, and I'm getting a Z490M UD delivered this week.
Do you have a DSDT.aml of the board so that I can put together a new EFI for the new board?
Is everything working well for you now?
Yes, I think if it was my main rig I’d do a fresh install but as it’s a secondary computer (useful in this time of lockdown when all the family at home) I can live with it.
If I ever get to the bottom of the issue I’ll share here. Thanks for the help.
Thanks, I found what was probably the guide for your registry & property changes changes online. The ig-platform-id, framebuffer-patch-enable and framebuffer-stolenmem values are for Coffee Lake (you have the 8700k) and I think I need to use different ones for the Kaby Lake processor which is...
Thanks for coming in on this. Unfortunately I've checked the registry and the connector type is already set at 00 08 00 00 which is HDMI. (Screenshot below).
Total head-scratcher, was never an issue on Mojave, now does it every time with Catalina.
I have found a workaround - I don't need to...
I tried switching to SMBIOS 18,3 - although this stopped the monitor from going to sleep at login, the colours are wrong and the screen doesn't refresh. As it's a 7700k, 18,3 *should* be correct but performance is worse.
I have a small, relatively portable second Hackintosh with a USB powered 1080p monitor connected via HDMI.
Specs of this machine are below as specs in my profile are for my main workstation.
Specs:
Catalina 10.15.4
Gigabyte Z270-WIFI
Kaby Lake i7 7700k
Intel HD 630 Graphics
32GB 2133Mhz RAM...
I’m also experiencing this issue.
I tried overwriting the install from my USB installer. It failed and from the installation screen I was told to reboot. I then got told to choose the startup disk. When trying to choose my system disk I got the message (Photo attached):
“You can’t change...
It’s a distinct possibility.
I had an Amazon voucher to spend and I thought it would would be safest to go with a card shown to work natively.
I’m not sure it was worth the hassle.
No sorry, mine is definitely a 480. Replacement arrives tomorrow.
Good luck getting your issue sorted...and I’m hopeful I don’t discover that I still have issues with the new card.
Yes my understanding is that the 500 series is basically a faster 400 series, that the architecture allows for faster speeds at roughly the same power consumption (with overclocking requiring greater resource)
Unfortunately it's all about the firmware isn't it? 580 is compatible with Apple and...
Ok, turns out I was swindled.
I noticed that the barcode / model number on the box had been covered by another sticker (barcode of unknown provenance) so I pulled the card. Turns out it was indeed an rx 480 with a different barcode.
In my defence, to the untrained eye the 480 looks the same...
I bought an RX 580 from Amazon as a warehouse deal, but have had problems with it (see me earlier post regarding 'yellow screen of death')
I have been getting lots of GPU resets, tonight on looking at yet another restart report I noticed that the OS is seeing my Graphics Hardware as an RX 480...
I've had a look in Console and I can see a number of Kernel Panics suffixed 'gpuRestart'
Also some WindowServer Crash reports. I have no idea how to interpret them though.
I got the yellow screen again. It froze, audio still worked in the background. Returned to login page after about a minute. Not sure why this is happening.
Short update. I removed Lilu and Whatevergreen, kept RadeonDeInit unchecked.
Watched YouTube videos for an hour last night with no freezes. Will monitor over next few days.
My Hack ran ok with an RX 560, but since installing an RX 580 (Sapphire Nitro+ 4GB) I'm experiencing sporadic screen-freeze.
I'm pretty sure it's always happened when I'm in Chrome and only when I'm in Chrome.
When it happens the mouse still works. Occasionally my Hack jumps back to the...
