4K Monitor Support in OS X 10.9.3 - Testing Thread

Tried all that. No change. Sigh. It may be that NUC + 4k + OS X just don't play well together.

4K Monitor Support in OS X 10.9.3 - Testing Thread

Also note that even a Macbook Air 5,2 with only HD 4000 graphics will drive a UP2414q at 3840x2160 over mini DP in 10.9.3 albeit only at 30 Hz (just tested this morning). So presumably HD 5000 should be able to do at least as well. Any ideas appreciated.

Install Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 (Mavericks)

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 Correction: the laptop I tried turns out to have been a 5,2 not a 6,2 and thus had HD 4000 not HD 5000 graphics. So I have not yet given up hope that the HD 5000 in the NUC can do at least that well and maybe better. :) I did...

Install Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 (Mavericks)

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 Fair point. FWIW I tried hooking up an actual MacbookAir6,2 (work laptop) running 10.9.3, and it went right into HiDPI mode on the first try, which looks beautiful. It also let me choose higher resolutions up to 3840x2160 by holding...

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 Or perhaps a MacBookPro11,1 system definition? The Haswell MacBook Pro, after all, has essentially the same CPU in it as the D54250WYK. But I can't find a smbios.plist file for MacBookPro11,1; MultiBeast only has the much older 8,1.

4K Monitor Support in OS X 10.9.3 - Testing Thread

A failure case here to report. Running 10.9.3 on a NUC D54250WYK, per WonkyDonkey's excellent install guide. Got a Dell UP2414Q. Even after setting DisplayPort 1.2 to enabled in the monitor menu, it will not give me options to drive the monitor at anything above 1920 x 1080, no HiDPI. It gives...

Install Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 (Mavericks)

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 one thing I know now does NOT work, btw, is installing the Mac Pro 6,1 system definition with MultiBeast. That just makes it hang on boot. But perhaps a custom system definition edit?

Install Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 (Mavericks)

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 OK, now for a more bleeding-edge sort of question. Any hints/tricks for getting a Dell UP2414Q to display at 4k resolution on a D54250WYK? The HD 5000 chipset *should* be able to support it, but OS X 10.9.3 only appears to let me run...

Install Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 (Mavericks)

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V2 FWIW, I successfully upgraded my NUC from 10.9.2 to 10.9.3 using this guide. Didn't even have to wipe the disk: I just selected the existing system partition at installer time and it installed 10.9.3, preserving my user accounts and...

Install Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) V1 (Mavericks)

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) Thanks so much for all this info. I was able to successfully repair my system by building a fresh 10.9.2 installer on my USB key, copying the mach_kernel from install pack 3.8 over to it, booting from it using -v UseKernelCache=no...

Installation Guide : Intel Haswell NUC Core i5 (D54250WYK) Hi, For us hackintosh noobs who followed your guide in the 10.9.1 days and then blunderingly installed the 10.9.2 update from the app store, can you spell out how to copy the backup mach_kernel to an improperly upgraded NUC so as to...

Mini 4k Hackintosh with HD 4600 and Z87N-WIFI?

Some more research appears to show that OS X doesn't support 4k @60Hz yet: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/547543 And it's not clear that any Socket 1150 processors even support 4k @60Hz through their integrated graphics. Intel spec sheets appear to say that only the "H series"...

Mini 4k Hackintosh with HD 4600 and Z87N-WIFI?

Thanks, nice catch. So the problem seems to be that HDMI sucks compared to DisplayPort-- now if only Gigabyte would make a mITX mobo with a DisplayPort out like some of their larger ones have...

Mini 4k Hackintosh with HD 4600 and Z87N-WIFI?

Hi, I'm looking to build a very small SFF Hackintosh to replace my venerable old Mac Mini. The motivation is that I want to be able to drive the new Dell 24" 4K monitor (the UP-2414Q). I don't care about gaming performance, I just really like ultra-high-res displays, served by small quiet...
